Ear problems
I'm hoping for some ideas. I've been on cpap therapy for almost a year. I use the s9 elite with nasal pillows. My pressure is a 6/4. I got some kind of a flu bug the end of January. I was complaining of dizziness and nausea. The primary doctor found fluid in my ears. He prescribed an antibiotic. The dizziness got a little better but then it started getting worse this month. I went to the ear specialist. He said I have sinusitis due to allergies and it is blocking my Eustation tubes. He told me to use a neti pot with a saline rinse. It helps a tiny bit but not enough. I am still dizzy. I don't like to take sudafed due to the side effects on the heart. Benadryl doesn't do much. Flonase doesn't do much. The sleep doctor doesn't think it is the cpap of course but turned the pressure to 5. Does anyone have any other ideas to help clear my ears/ sinuses?
Re: Ear problems
Hi, I have a lot of ear problems myself, earache fluid buildup... along with jaw and sinus problems, all causing general pain in the area of my ears. My family has a history of problems with dizziness with some connection to possible inner ear issues. So far I have not gotten the dizziness but assume it could just be a matter of time. My mother has found massage therapy for her neck and chiropractic treatment is of some help for her vertigo, and I find that pressure points around the ear and jaw as well as the face help to relax and relieve my pain issues, with the added benefit of often causing drainage in my sinus and ear canal.
This is a link to a video that I found helpful for my jaw problems the same site has videos on ear and lymphatic massage and drainage that could be interesting to you.

I'd give him a call back. If the inflammation and swelling has been in place long enough you may have trouble getting the fluid to move. They may be able to use a steroid pack or other solutions to get the soft tissue swelling down.. either way if the fluids are being trapped there, the infection will eventually return.

And you definately don't want to end up with the bone being infected... it's a nasty surgery, and I'm recovering from one.

Re: Ear problems
I don't know if this will help you or not. I've had two separate incidents with feeling dizzy and nauseated but I wasn't really sick with fever or virus. It was definitely an inner ear thing going on. I tried the Modified Epley Maneuver both times and I had immediate relief. YOU NEED TO BE PHYSICALLY ABLE TO DO THIS - It's a 5 step process and you will need a pillow:
1. Sit in the middle of your bed -turn your head 45 degrees to the left (I felt the problem was in my right ear - so you turn to the opposite side of which ear is bothering you).
2. Lie back quickly so that your shoulders are on the pillow and your head is hanging off the edge and leave your head facing the left (or right as needed) at 45 degrees - wait 30 seconds.
3. Turn your head 90 degrees to the right (or opposite as needed) without raising it and wait again for 30 seconds.
4. Turn your body and head another 90 degrees (same side - you will be kind of looking directly at the mattress) and wait another 30 seconds.
5. Sit up on the side of the bed with your legs over the edge.
I found this on google. As I said, it worked for me.
