O/T Australian Government Subsidies?

Post by emeraude » Thu Mar 07, 2013 2:33 am

Hello all,

I have just returned to Queensland, Australia after many many years of working abroad. I remember reading here some months ago about concessions or subsidies given to CPAP users in Australia however I'm unable to find that post.

Can an Aussie forum member point me to that post or let me know what I need to do? Any other information is greatly appreciated!

Another off topic question, which Internet Provider do you recommend for the Ashmore 4214 area? I'm new to the area and need to get the Internet connected.....so many things to do!

Many thanks and it's great to be home...
Emeraude

You may be entitled to a rebate on your electricity bill
You will need to apply for the rebate through your electricity retailer

The Reserve Bank of Australia will supply banks with a permanent bailout facility worth up to $380 billion by 2015.

Maybe they will supply CPAP users with a generous fund like that?
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

Hi Emeraude

Welcome back!

Qld does not provide an electricty subsidy for CPAP (some other States do).

There is the Qld Health service for thos ein need, but it takes ome time.

If you take the "extras" package, most private health insurers will give you some rebate. Can be anywhere from $200-$1,000 depending on your insurer and the level of extras you take out.

G'day Gerald,

Thanks! It's great to be back home...

Sorry for the late reply ... and thanks for the link. I just got the Internet connected at home ... went with a local provider.

Yes, I just found out that the Qld. Gov. doesn't have any subsidies. I'll have to look at Private Health Care in the near future once I have a job.

Cheers!

Hi Emeraude

There is a subsidy by Australian Govt, it came in in July last year. It is all to do with the Carbon Tax and is to offset the increase in electricity costs it is handled through Centre Link, it is for an ongoing $149 per year. It is a very simple form and it also requires your doctor's verification and there is a whole list of things including Nebulisers and CPAP Machines. I applied for Centre Link access on the internet and downloaded form from there but you can pick up one from them.

I am from Brisbane and go to Gold Coast for a month every year and I found CPAP Australia at West Burleigh very, very helpful.

Kind regards

G'day Pherretaus,

Thank you for the information! I have an appointment with Centre Link next week and will ask them about it. I'm nearer to Southport so will try to locate a CPAP shop around this area. Burleigh is a little far without a car.

Thanks again Pherretaus!:)

Its only available to those who "are covered by a Commonwealth concession card issued by the Department of Human Services or the Department of Veterans’ Affairs", so its not available to just anyone.
