Check these out!
I believe the proper name for these is CAT (Cat Airway Termination). This is when the cat decides to paw the Ramp button
They're short because it is a form of arousal event in that I suddenly can't breathe (I *never* use Ramp) so I wake up, turn the machine off and back on, and back to sleep.
He and I have had a few talks about it and we've decided that I was wrong to put the machine in place he can get to it so easily.

Sleep loss is a terrible thing. People get grumpy, short-tempered, etc. That happens here even among the generally friendly. Try not to take it personally.

LOL K,
Tell me why you don't use ramp. I have been using it...does it cause issues?
thanks,

The Ramp feature is supposed to help you fall asleep. It has no such effect for me. If I have less than my minimum pressure I'll feel the airway closing as soon as I start to nod off, and ZING! I am awake again. I have come to know and love the full pressure ... anything less puts me out of my comfort zone.
I'm not saying everyone should stop Ramp. If Ramp helps you fall asleep, by all means, use it! The worse effect it can have is that you'll be throwing a few events in the start of your night's therapy (assuming that the worse isn't as it is with me, that you don't fall asleep!)

The rap feature allows you to set a lower pressure to fall asleep. In my case once I got use to the proper pressure I felt like I was suffocating while using it. So I turned it off.

Hi,
Gee, if I put my paw here, my human wakes up and plays with me. How fun! It is good that my human is so easily trained.

Obviously you have a cat too, John. Yuki (means "snow") knows all the tricks but he's usually pretty good about letting me sleep. It's a new machine and he's a little curious, like any cat.
He's also shut the machine off in the past. Equally fun.

I had to shut ramp off too. It was set at four whereas in order to relax and feel as though I'm getting enough air to go to sleep I needed at least a six. I felt as though I was sucking my air out of the machine rather than letting it come to me.
Funny cat. They always like to be part of the action. Good thing you're not on a ventilator.

Just practicing upload and share - note sharp rise in respiration - another CAT event. British short hair blue jumped on the bedside table, knocking off the lamp and a full glass of water.......

You should be able to adjust the pressure at the start so you don't feel like you are suffocating. You can also adjust how long it takes to ramp up. I raised the start, and cut the ramp time and I am pretty comfy using ramp.
