oldie with newbue questions

Post by Bellcrest » Sun Mar 03, 2013 9:01 am

So here is my story. I have been using th same Apap (Resperonic) machine since December 2005. I am planning on retiring soon and want to get a new updated machine before I retire. I have no insurance coverage other than the portion the Canadian Government pays towards machine.
My question is, and I am guessing I need to go back to sleep doctor for perscription even though all is well, when I go to get a new machine, what kind should I be looking at. I have a second machine that I use for traveling that I love It is a resmed.

Try secondwindcpap.com.
If you are in Canada I don't think a RX is required for international sales. Email them for confirmation.

If you are wanting to access all the new fancy data and also have APAP machine...

The ResMed S9 Autoset or the Respironics PR System One APAP machine (model 550 or 560) would be what I would look at if it were me. Those are the latest technology machines and software for either is easily obtained and easy to use.

Our Canadian gov't doesn't pay, its each individual province. You need to look up your provincial medical plan to find out what yours pays for. It is up to you what you buy, a Resmed s9 autoset or. a new Philips machine out I think its the system one 560 auto.... take a look at cpap.com and it will show you what the most popular machines are.
Yes, you will have to have another test done, but they are using home tests more and more these days OR you can get your family doc or dentist to write you a prescription that works to
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

Right, not the Canadian Government, the government of Ontario. I am researching now to see what machine I would like as the sleep doc is totally against apap. Had a struggle some years ago when I researched and insisted to him that I wanted apap so I could track my treatment. Hopefully he has modernized witht eh times and will not be so obstinant now. Or, maybe I will by pass him and as family doctor for perscriton once I decide on which machne I think would be best. I think the Ontario Gov pays $500 towards a machine once every 5 years.

For purchasing Resmed new in Canada try clinicalsleep.com and sign up to get the real prices. They are not allowed to post the real prices in public, as per the manufacturers, in Canada. Their prices, when you include shipping from the US, are about par.
