Can any one recommend a good oximeter? I use an S9 APAP with sleepyhead software. I'm feeling tired all the time again - what ever I do ( adjustments to CPAP/APAP fullface or nasal masks, pressure adjustments) my body seems to adapt to it in short while later causing tiredness. I have low AHI but a good portion (more than 50%) of the graph shows Hypo apnea every night. I suspect the hypo apnea may be the culprit and my plan is to verify this using an oximeter.
Am I on the right track here?
Any advice or personal experience would be great.
Thanks all.

Be sure you get a Pulse Oximeter that can record overnight. I have a CMS-50E. It seems the price on that unit has gone up quite a bit since I bought might last summer.

The CMS-50D Plus is very similar. The main difference is that it has replaceable batteries instead of a rechargeable battery and therefore is just a little bit larger.

That is a nice find. The descriptions shows that it can record, which is important. I'd guess that under the hood, it is a Contec units, with similar software to the CMS units, based on the comments on the Costco thread. One person complains about accuracy, but I take those with a grain of salt, as they seem to be written be people trying to justify their spending hundreds more on a Nonin non-recording unit.pikov22 wrote:Costco has the Premium Pulse Oximeter by Veridian Healthcare® for $48.

Re: Recommendations for an OXIMETER?
Hi, I have the wrist ( watch like) CMS50F and really like it. I didn't like the idea of a larger, bulky-one piece hanging off my finger and was willing to pay extra for this one. It cost around $90 on eBay. The data Imports into SleepHead just fine.
It doesn't have a smart card so it has a limit of storing 24 hrs of data. I just upload (via supplied USB cord) to my computer after each time I use it.
It has 3 modes: 1. real time transmission to a computer ( I don't know anything about this one), 2. shows info on the screen. ( good for when you are awake and just want to monitor your SpO2 and pulse ), 3. data storage where the screen is blank (and probably sleeping).
I'm quite happy with it.

Re: Recommendations for an OXIMETER?
I have a CMS50D+, which was at the time the cheapest data-recording model, about $45, maybe nowadays some newer ones are just as cheap.TheCLEANSER wrote:Can any one recommend a good oximeter?

There is a bit on "pinch" discomfort on the top of the finger sometimes when using it all night long, I'm sure there are ways to mitigate that. The display is very crisp, bright, the data recording is great, it gives measurement for pulse rate and oxygen, and you get very detailed graphs, not just a single, summarized wave per session duration per measurement, like you get from the PAP machine.
To make sure, get a model with 24-hr recording. Several people recommended above a model in the CMS50 line; I would exclude the CMS50D , which does not have data recording. You would need not the CMS50D, but the CMS50D+ which has a USB port and comes with software, or, one of the later models mentioned in posts above.
I believe that the manufacturer of home oximeters, Contec, makes the other brands as well, so all usage issues revolve pretty much around the CMS50 line. After you have buy yours, could you please share your experiences and questions on this central thread for CMS50 (and clones) users, so others can find them and benefit:

Good luck with your choice of model
Very important: get the software that is the right version for your PC Windows version. (See the 1st post on that thread.)
