CPAP battery pack

Post by bono1 » Thu Feb 21, 2013 7:18 pm

Hi, I am flying Asiana Airlines in business class and they have informed me I can use my resmed S9 elite on flight only if its battery operated. I looked up the cost of a battery and its $699.00???.. pretty steep price for a battery pack. see link

https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... eviews#tab

Are there any alternatives? cheaper portable battery? or a travel cpap machine?

thanks

The cost of the Resmed battery pack was the reason why I went for a second machine for travel and emergency:

and this battery pack:

Cpap.com gave me discounts on the humidifier, data module and battery pack since I bought them at the same time.

You need to buy the 2 items I linked. S9 elite will work.

Sorry Cosmo, can you tell me why I need this? http://www.bestcpapprice.com/ResMed-S9- ... p_920.html

I am not going to plug it into a car adapter. only after I charge the battery, I want to plug it into my machine so that I can use it one the plane. I will not be using the humidifier on the plane.

The battery pack puts out 12V. The S9 requires 24V.

Also, the S9 requires a hard to obtain non-standard power connector. It won't connect directly to the battery pack.

The S9 also has a 3rd wire in the connector and we're not quite sure what it does. Apparently, the S9 won't work unless it sees the correct signal on this third wire.

That adapter changes 12V to 24V, and provides the correct plug. Plus it does some things to protect the S9 and the battery.

You could find a battery pack that provides 120VAC, but the inverter that changes DC to AC will waste a lot of the power in your battery and make it not last as long.

This battery only gives power through this port.
