I tried my CPAP at home for the first time.
I came home from the sleep lab a few hours ago and just woke up from a nap. The machine was on for 42 minutes. I have the nasal pillows, the machine is set on six with humidity on level three. When they woke me up at 6 am at the sleep lab I did not feel wonderful, as some describe. I feel a bit better now. My German Shepherd did not respond well at first to the stunningly attractive headgear. I guess he, along with my kids and hubby, will get used to it. This is a great forum. I just wish I had been diagnosed sooner. My grandmother and father both snored heavily and both died from strokes (cva). I am so happy to have the cpap. I hope it works! Cheers.
Machine: REMstar Auto A-Flex by Philips Respironics
Humidifier: System One Heated Humidifier, DOM

I have a german shepherd too.. .sometimes she still looks at me funny when I put my mask on. . . .scrunching her eyebrows in that famous *I'm worried you might hurt yourself, Mom. . .as you are so prone to do.** look. I let her sniff all the equipment when I first came home. She tried to guard me from the 'snake' . . .but soon figured out that some snakes are really quite boring.
Congratulations on your diagnosis!! And welcome to the forum. This is a great place with a lot of very very knowledgeable people. Be patient with yourself and that machine that is saving your live - it's a work in progress but a very worthwhile one.
