Need info on software for S9autoset

Post by bap40 » Sun Feb 10, 2013 11:22 am

I currently have the M-series A-flex now but next week I should be getting my new machine Resmed S9 autoset. I d id have the tools needed to monitor on old machine but have no clue as to what I will need to monitor the new one. I will of course ask for the clinicians manual but doubt I will get it. I have the instructions on how to get into the locked sections but as far as the downloadable information I have no idea. This will be my 2nd machine and I am excited to use something more updated. Thanks alot!

I also found a brand new DME that has just opened in my area and so far I have had no trouble asking for and getting the machine of my choice. Of course I did have my doc order the exact machine I wanted. On my first machine with the other DME I did not get the machine the doc had ordered but was happy enough with the A-flex. Was surprised that this new place never batted an eye or tried to talk me into another machine. Will see how the rest of my experience with them goes.

Here's the clinical manual.

You can use ResScan software or SleepyHead. I have SleepyHead links in my signature.

You can find information on where to get ResScan in UncleBob's signature.

There's a tutorial explaining how to use ResScan here

SleepyHead has a Mac version. ResScan does not.

So, is this a better source for getting the Clinical Guide than the rather burdensome procedure used by the Apnea Board?

Involves a single click on the link vs a click on the link to the apnea board...filling out an email request and waiting for the manual (tho I don't think the wait is long).
Also means all I have to type is "this link for the manual" Everyone knows I like to do as little work as possible and that include typing.

Same manual as far as I know. ResMed combines their manuals. The Elite and the Autoset are in one and the VPAPs are in another.

I haven't bothered to check to see what the Version is of the Clinical Guide that you can get through the Apnea Board.

But, the Version in your link is currently
368133/3 09 12 (See the last page of the Guide)

The Version that DMEs can get directly from ResMed is currently
368220/7 2012-10

Not sure why they would release a Version only a month apart.
Plus, notice how the date is shown differently in each Version.

Also not sure that my added information Re Version Numbers would be important or even useful to anyone. But, since I had it, I thought I would share it.

Without putting both versions under a microscope we don't know what they may have changed between versions.
The apnea board normally doesn't bother updating a clinical manual each time one gets released. They don't monitor that stuff closely.
Most often there won't be any meaningful changes unless maybe some major change in the function of the machine.

The manual I have for the S9 Autoset shows Sept 2012 date. I don't remember where I got it though.
I had multiple sources at one time but ResMed police made my first choice for d/l remove the ResMed manuals.

To my thinking I doubt that there was some significant change between Sept and Oct. No machine function changes have occurred.
Could just be a minor change in some wording. If you have access to both and want to put both under a microscope to see if anything major changed then go for it.
I don't have access to what DMEs get and to be honest..not inclined to put them under the microscope. A lot of work and I don't think it would yield anything worthwhile. It doesn't bother me to not have the latest versions of every manual.

Nope, I don't have the time nor the desire to go through each with a microscope.

In fact, I am still using the 368220/5 2011-09 Version that I initially acquired.

Interesting to note though, that the 9-11 Version I have starts with the same 368220/ & the year & month are listed in the same format. Where you get the software seems to determine how the Version information is listed (just a guess).
