My Sleep Doctor told me that he could call me and give me a key dequence of some sorts and it would give me numbers/letters on the screen that he'd be able to type into some software and give him all my sleep stats etc..
What software would this be? And since I don't have a card reader on my unit I am sure this is the only thing I can do correct?

She's talking about the smart codes. Not software.
There is a way to check for some numbers and letters on the machine and then you plug those numbers into an online calculator and then you get a report. It isn't as comprehensive of a report as the software offers.
To use the software (SleepyHead or Devilbiss software) you have to have a SD card and to have the SD card data you need the special module. If she doesn't have access to a SD card then all she is getting is from the smart code online calculator.
See the "Track your Therapy" section here..right above it are some links that explains the smart code and there is a place to put your own smart codes into the window and generate your own report. There is even an example of a report that is generated.

What I don't know is how to get the codes off your machine. Some else would need to tell you how to do that if you don't know.

Sometimes the code doesn't work.
Out of three nights, one wasn't recognized.

Re: CPAP Key to get stats
Ok I was able to get my smart code down. I did a 7 day since I've only used if for 5 days now.
What strikes me is the report.
The AHI (Apnea/Hypopnea Index (AHI) represents the average number of apneas and hypopneas per hour for the timeframe.)
Shows 8.5.
Little confused by this, I mean 8.5 is better than 42 I had.. but was told at #13 I had 0.. so just wondering if this is acruate or?
I may have to wait and see what my doctor says when he calls for this smart code.

What's the leak showing?Lugnut wrote:Little confused by this, I mean 8.5 is better than 42 I had.. but was told at #13 I had 0.. so just wondering if this is acruate or?
I don't know how accurate this smart code thing is. Supposedly pretty accurate.
Maybe the average is elevated due to the first couple of nights. Those are often not the best of nights sleep and the AHI might be elevated.
Tomorrow check it and see what just tonight's data happens to be.
Oh, just because the lab gets things down to 0 during the sleep study doesn't always translate to 0 at home. Often we sleep so much better at home compared to in the sleep lab that the sleep lab doesn't get the real picture of how things are going.

Generally speaking the smart codes are supposed to line up with what would be available with the software reports. Though I have heard a few people say that sometimes they were way off (these would be people who checked the smart codes and then checked the software reports).
1% of the night in large leak isn't horrible. Now unless you happened to have a truckload of events during those few minutes in large leak it isn't enough to account for the elevated AHI.

Re: CPAP Key to get stats
The Devilbiss Smart code results are quite good. I use that and I use Sleepyhead. I find them to be very close. The Smart code seems to round off the AHI. For example, this morning my AHI with the Smart code was 1.0. When I read the card, using Sleepyhead the AHI was 0.82. That's about what happens all the time as I compare the 2. Yesterday the Smart code said my AHI was 0.5 and Sleephead said it was 0.32.
Depending on just the Smart code is fine. There is a very good explanation for each thing that it reports so you know what happened, how many events you had and what type of events they were.
