Pap-Cap??

Post by bap40 » Fri Feb 08, 2013 10:14 am

Does anyone remember the "pap-cap"? I was reading posts about this new cap for use with long hair and it dawned on me that I havent' seen any mention of the old faithful pap-cap in a long time. Is is still around?

Pap-Cap has been a faithful part of my routine for the last eighteen months. For maintenance, I just add to a wash load of darks and then into the dryer.

I just purchased on last week! I've been surprised at how much I am liking it.

I have used the same Pap Cap since 2010 and since it was getting old, and also for the convenience of having another one when the first is drying after being hand washed, I bought another. I'm crazy about some of the changes. The velcro flap that secures behind the head is way too long--much longer than the original. Also, the nice velcro loop with a slit in it has been replaced with a vanilla loop with no slit. Still, the setup works better for me than a regular chin strap, so I'll keep using it.

I just received one in the mail this last weekend and have started using it. I got the smaller size and it still seems a little large on me in that the fabric comes down over my eyebrows and that bothers me a little. Overall, it works great. I was getting frustrated that my neoprene chin strap would slide down through the night and I blamed this for waking up many times with my cpap dislodged or completely off. In general I find my nasal pillows comfortable so I didn't know if I was removing it on purpose or what.

The 3 times I've worn it, the cpap has stayed in place the whole time. I'm happy with it. My hair is still messy, but not not crazy like it was with the combo chin-strap/head gear from before. I will be interested in knowing if it makes me hot as our weather warms. I have to believe that the Pap Cap will be cooler than the neoprene chin strap which would leave me slightly sweaty even on cold nights. My husband jokes about the neoprene chin strap being my "sweat collar" which is a device used for cattle that are being showed.
