From nasal pillow to full face back to nasal pillow
I originally started out with using the Swift brand nasal pillows for about the first year, then after putting up with the dry mouth syndrome decided to try the full face mask (Quattro FX) for 6 months and got really uncomfortable with it (leaks, constant readjusting, jet fighter fantasies etc.) stuck it out for about 3 more months and decided to go back to the nasal pillows and I'm now sleeping better and more comfortably without all the claustrophobic full face mask/headgear, anybody else?

Re: From nasal pillow to full face back to nasal pillow
was just curious as to how many others have gone through different mask/nasal pillow options until they found 'the one' ?,
I'm thinking the majority of CPAP users stick with the first kind/type of gear issued or chosen?

Re: From nasal pillow to full face back to nasal pillow
It only took me one night of using a full face mask to decide it wasn't going back on my face ever again.
I am using the same type of mask (nasal pillow) as my original choice BUT I spent a lot of time deciding on which one to try ahead of time because I knew about some potential problems I would have with some masks and my cervical spine and my nasal turbinates not liking pressure.
I have tried a lot of nasal pillow masks though...just for fun.
Started out with the Swift LT...changed to the Swift FX when it came out...I was 99.9% sure I would love it and I did.

I tried on a FFM at the DME and couldn't pull it off fast enough. I took home a Swift FX and then got the Bella Loops. I've tried several masks and seem to always go back to the Swift. I used the Bella Loops for awhile but now I'm back to the original headgear. I tried the Wisp which I actually liked but they need to improve the straps. If the silicone straps were more like the straps on the Swift, I would have loved it. Just ordered the Elan with the new small nose thingie. And the search continues for the perfect mask.

You're such a quitter! Shame on you.Pugsy wrote:It only took me one night of using a full face mask to decide it wasn't going back on my face ever again.
I lasted 2 nights before I threw in the towel with the Quattro full face I then moved onto a nasal mask but that still was not good enough. I ordered a Swift LT via next day air and I've been leaky free and comfy since.
This was all in a span of 5 nights
Re: From nasal pillow to full face back to nasal pillow
I've tried a LOT of masks, I used the IQ for several years, until they changed the headgear. The one I love best, the Piliaro leaks, I've come to that conclusion by comparing my leak rate with other masks to the Piliaro & it rates the highest with leaks, and that is with the chinstrap.
I've recently tried the Hybrid, I plan to keep trying that to see if it will work, but in between 'trials' when I just desperately need sleep, I've been using the SleepWeaver Elan. My leak rate is lower with this mask, so it may be my 'the one', but it has a unique problem, and until I've solved that, I keep switching around. Will start a separate thread about my 'problem', but suffice it to say, finding the right mask is not easy, I've tried the Quattro FX & CANNOT do that, with several nights trial, that thing is not for me.
I guess my response to the OP is that it takes each of us time to adjust to any mask & if you find the one that feels good, stay with that one IF you aren't having problems such as leaks, etc.
