New reason to love my DME

Post by mamagoober » Thu Jan 31, 2013 12:26 pm

I wish it were a national chain so more of you could enjoy them like I do. They are associated with our local hospital and have been stellar. I just got confirmation of that in the mail today. My husband was diagnosed in Nov last year when we had already met our almost $6,000 deductible. All of his sleep studies were paid for and the monthly rental for the cpap was covered. The RT told us that if he had perfect compliance for the first 30 days she could submit a claim to have the machine bought outright instead of rented. Just got the EOB today that shows that not only was she not talking out of her ass, she had made it happen. He now owns his machine. No payments!

Great to find a good DME, hold onto that one. Mine's not so good...just spent a month wrestling with my DME trying to get supplies, and when I finally got them (after a couple of not so good nights due to mask leakage) they were for the wrong mask. So I ended up driving an hour each way to pick up the right supplies from a bigger branch of this DME to avoid losing more sleep. I just wish that they had some competition in my area.

I don't know who to give credit to, but I suspect all involved deserve it. I went to new sleep doc on Oct. 22, had new sleep test on Oct. 26, 29, and saw new DME on Nov. 6. I figured for sure I was going to get hammered wit a rental/purchase that would extend into this year and hav to pay all my deductible this month. I was very surprised to see the insurance claim for my new S9 VPAPAuto cashed out Dec. 28. It sure is nice when everything works out right sometimes.
