Second Sleep Study and Follow up

Post by PadreTN » Thu Apr 20, 2006 8:40 pm

I had my second visit, (this time with the cpap) and it was Awsome, I slept the entire night except for the two times the nurse had to adjust leads. I havent slept the entire night in years.

I talked to the technician today and he went over my first test; he said I had 30 events (no breathing) and 10 events (shallow breathing) per hour.

The problem I have now is they told me it would take two weeks to get my machine (Dr has to read report and insurance has to approve and order)

I cant wait

Glad to hear things are going well for you, PadreTN. Do you know what kind of machine and mask you used, or that you are scheduled to get? Since you slept so well, if you liked the equipment, you should consider getting the same stuff.

Regards,
Bill

PadreTN,

I was also eager to get started before we could get my titration results, so I got my primary care doctor to prescribe an auto machine (a bipap in my case, but most people need/want an auto cpap). Apparently doctors can write a prescription based solely on the results of the diagnostic sleep study.

If your doctor will agree, you can go ahead and get started with your therapy. I just explained why I needed an automatic, and he gave me a prescription saying "Auto Bipap 2-10 cm". I am thankful to this forum for giving me the guts to ask for this, and to a friendly local DME, who advised me about what kind of machine I might need, and what kind of prescription was needed to acquire it.

Most insurance pays after the fact instead of ordering stuff in advance. Of course, you might have strange insurance, but you might want to ask a local DME, or contact http://www.billmyinsurance.com for help with dealing with insurance payments for your equipment.
