Solution to air /mask leakage is finally here

Post by mcpascaln » Fri Jan 25, 2013 10:32 am

I have used Full Face and Nosal Liners for ResMed and Respironics samples from remzzzs.com. They were very effective in blocking air leakage. Iam really surprised. Believe me, if you try free samples, you might find out how good they are. See the link here http://www.remzzzs.com/product-p/s1-3-ff.htm
Iam going to order more but must first talk to my insurance since these are medically related items.

If you like the remzzzz, then try the Pad-A-Cheek stuff. They are much better made, last for months, and do a better job. At least that is my, and many others, opinion.

I have a box of remzzzz for my Quattro sick days mask. I tested twice. I found that it didn't make much of a difference and I went with no liners. But I still keep in storage just in case. The liner is expensive and 1 or 2 time use.

I would rather seek out a well fitting mask than using liners if it were a daily full face or nasal mask. All that engineering they put in the mask, its made for no liners. I would hate to imagine if the mask mgf went with the disposable razor or 1 day use contact lens model....I hope they don't get further ideas to fleece us

Bottom line is that it is good to hear that you found a solution to your leak problems

YEAH!

Pad-a-cheek liners did the trick for me and I found them to be less expensive in the long run.

I bought mine from Karen about 4 months ago and they are still going strong... can't say that about RemZzz's.

Are you saying that the insurance companies and / or Medicare would cover such items?

I was just browsing some online providers who accept Medicare since I am considering just buying all of my APAP supplies online.

One such provider had a similar item.
I don't recall its name, but it was not one of those you mentioned.
It looked like they were covered by Medicare.

I am considering using those and it would be great if they were covered by Medicare & my BC/BS supplement.

The other liner is Quietus; but just a minute: their website states they are covered by Medicare,
BUT the codes listed are the same as those for nasal and full face CUSHIONS.
Looks like an either/or situation. Either get the liners OR a new cushion.
NOT COOL at all!
--In my humble opinion, these should be the miscellaneous code.

Actually, "I" could live with the either / or situation since Medicare allows you to get 2 Nasal Cushions per month. No way I need 2 cushions per month, so I could alternate & get liners in between the cushion replacements.

Best scenario though would be to be able to get both at the same time.

I used the ResMed Gecko pad last night that I had gotten as a sample from ResMed in May 2011 but never used. Worked like a charm. Hope the excellent results continue.

I made a liner out of t-shirt material and didn't like the damp feeling of it with the humidity in my mask - any solutions to this? Kind of like on a cold day and you wear a muffler over your face? You breathe out and it is fine, but when you inhale you feel the damp?

Firstly...I'm really allergic to the silicon these masks are made of and suffered from break outs on my face, bumps, open wounds and pain on the bridge of my nose. I used the t-shirt material for awhile but these home made liners are much better. This all works on a Mirage Quattro Full Face Mask with headgear. My machine is set at 12 and at that pressure the liners still work great with very few leeks. I made these blue liners out of flannel / fleece material I bought at Walmart on sale for about five bucks. I made a paper pattern and then cut out about twenty of these fleece liners. I use them for one night sometimes two and then wash them all together in a small mesh bag with my laundry. They work great! Two other important things that really worked to keep the mask leaks away for me. The pad a cheek flannel / fleece material that fits to the top of the mask and a small ace bandage band that goes snug (Tied by an easy knot) around the back of my head and the nose bridge of the mask. This flannel / fleece stuff is very non allergenic to my skin.

(1)The flannel liners, (2)The "Pad a cheek" liner for the top of the mask and (3)The ace bandaged wrapped around my head and mask have really made this work for me after months of trying different masks even taping. Since I've been using these three things I'm finally getting a good nights sleep and have felt a lot better for a couple of months now with no pain to my face. Maybe some of these ideas can work for somebody else. Be sure and make the liners about an inch or more larger than the mask as they seen to work better that way. The hole in the liner is only large enough for my nose to breath although if I breath through my mouth air still passes through the liner. Good luck!

Trying to find cool-max fabric by the yard.
That would be awesome!
