RX placed. and severely depressed.

Post by yoyoyomonica » Wed Jan 23, 2013 4:33 pm

Saw my neurologist today at the sleep clinic. I have got my prescription today. they are going to put a rush on it. My headaches are getting so bad. my HBP isnt responding to medication I hope this helps. I am pretty nervous. I dont want to cost my family a fortune on something else that doesn't work. Feeling discouraged and hopeless.

There is nothing worse than when you are severely depressed. But try to remember that a key FACT about such depression is that you are unable to see reality. Everything looks bleak and horrible and has very little relation to the reality of things. I wish i had something i could say or do that would make it better. You are more important to your family than the money. I think i'd give away everything i own if i could spend another hour with my parents and my first wife who all died way too young. You are doing something to make things better, you aren't just feeling depressed, let's hope this doctor and this machine will make things better - if not there is ongoing research on treatments that do NOT involve cpap machines or surgery

Thanks guys. I appreciate the replies. I have costed my family hundreds of thousands of dollars with all my illnesses. I am nervous how much this is going to cost. my insurance wont cover any of it until my $1500 deductible is paid first. We just relocated again after my husband lost his job in August. we are trying to hard to get back on our feets again. Keep getting collection calls. It is hard for me to handle. I am crying now.

Hang in there. Once you get your health back on track you'll have the mental capacity to figure out how to stick it to the man .... errr I mean the system.
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

And another hug. When you get your equipment we'll be here to help you work out the bugs.

Please don't mention bugs - I found my first stink bug of the winter in the house yesterday

Go ahead and get the crying out of your system before the machine arrives - don't want to fight a stuffy nose while getting started. No matter how much we need something, when it's a financial burden it's also an emotional burden. Hang in there until you begin to see the return on this wise investment.

Regarding your money issues: If you get diagnosed for the basic form of sleep apnea (I'm thinking you look pretty young) where your airway collapses and inhibits your breathing (but no deep sleep centrals or other less common complications), I'd be willing to bet that one of the members or someone they know would either give you (or loan) an older version of a straight CPAP machine... or possibly sell it for next to nothing. Somebody else mentioned charity programs, which I've also heard others mention favorably.

Additionally, the members on CPAPtalk, of course, will always be here to help you set your initial pressure and assist you in dealing with any therapy issues that occur... and trust me, there are always issues ! Anyway, you're doing great, plus you communicate well, so paste a smile on that boo-boo face because you're on the road to recovery.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Hi,

Check this link out for people who can't afford cpap machines:

http://www.sleepapnea.org/resources/cpa ... chine.html

Some caveats:

1. You have to be under the care of a physician which it sounds like you are as the machine is shipped to his/her office.
2. You have to provide a donation of $25.
3. Ask whether your machine is data capable if you go this route and receive a donation. I know they were allowing non data capable machines to be included so that is why I am throwing this caveat in. Obviously, having a machine is better than nothing but it is best to get one that is data capable.

Personally, I would try Cosmo's suggestion first before trying this avenue.

Hang in there.

Hi,

That is a lot of blows to have happen in such a short period of time. With a sleep disorder, as well as a job loss and moving, you end up with a sense of grief. It is only natural to be down, and it is OK to cry some. What is key is to do something about it, and I see you doing that. Way to go...and give yourself and your husband some of the credit that you both deserve for being able to juggle so many issues at the same time.

Sleep disorders can contribute to depression. It also causes a mental fog that makes it harder to deal with problems, and it causes physical effects that elevate your blood pressure and contributes to weight gain. While it might be hard to see it now, getting treated for a sleep disorder can clear up the mental fog, it can help depression, it can lower your blood pressure, and that is just the start of what is possible.

Some people adjust to CPAP easily, others run into issues. Everybody and every case is different. Feel free to post anytime. The nice thing is that there are a lot of us here that have been through this, so I have at least a little idea of what you are feeling like right now.
