I just got a new computer and installed my SmartLink Desktop software. When I launched the software it performed a software update. The new version 2.5.5.1 just sits on the screen with a green bar moving across like it is doing something. But nothing ever happens, when I tried to uninstall the software the old version get an error "devilbiss unable to find the requested .net framework data provider" an I tried the repair MS Sql Compact 3.5 listed in another thread and it doesn't help. Please help I would like to use my Smartlink software again.
I'm running Windows 7 x64 and have .Net Framework 4 and 4.5 installed, older versions say they are installed by default and will bit install.

You might want to contact Devilbiss Tech Support and see if they can help you. They were very helpful when I had a problem and another forum member felt the same way.

Thank you 49er, I will try that and hope it works.
Re: DeVilbiss SmartLink Desktop 2.5.5.1 issues
Its probably antivirus or firewall program blocking you from installing it. Disable Norton or Mcafee, etc while trying to install.
Re: DeVilbiss SmartLink Desktop 2.5.5.1 issues
When I tried to uninstall SmartLink Desktop 2.5.5.1, I also uninstalled the new MS Sql Compact 4.0 that it installed. When I left the Sql Compact 4.0 I can use 2.4.1 if I create a new database in 2.4.1.
I also installed Windows 8 and installed all the DeVilbiss SmartLink Desktop software and got the same error of nothing happens. Unless Windows 8 install MS Security Essentials by default I have no anti-virus on the Windows 8 machine. The Windows firewall is on by default but should allow outbound connections.

I have recently installed it on 2 machines. Both were Windows 7 x64 and they updated fine also. I have no idea whats going on in your case

Re: DeVilbiss SmartLink Desktop 2.5.5.1 issues
I hadn't used SmartLink since November....but when I tried to start it yesterday...it threw this error.
I tried running the updater, which updated it 2.5.5.1, but that didn't fix the problem.
I then tried a bunch of other things....repair installs of the SQL bit, repair installs of .net, etc. ... no luck
Tried uninstalling everything, including .Net....and then reinstalling.... no luck.
More searches....about DbProvider issues, those didn't seem to apply to me. But, there was a lot of really old stuff, for what I had just installed and stuff that I haven't reinstalled yet. Stumbled upon this: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archiv ... 04493.aspx - .Net Framework cleanup tool.
So, after uninstall everything again...I ran the tool, to really uninstall .Net (2.0, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0)...3.5 includes 2.0 & 3.0... and then tried the install again....and this time it worked.
Updated again to 2.5.5.1, and then the next problem...the database upgrade needed dialog is hiding behind the splash....once I get to it, and update....it starts. Restore my database and now to see what trouble I've been having this past month before I see my doc this afternoon....
