changing machines, which one to get?

Post by cpapper » Wed Jan 16, 2013 2:11 pm

My Remstar Pro M series machine isn't working properly, and if it can't be repaired, I may be replacing it. What would be the best one to get, if I have a choice? I have had this one for about 5 years now. Thank you for any advice anyone has to offer.

I just changed from an M-Series APAP to a Resmed SP Autoset. Loving it! the only small thing is that I hear a bit of a whistle when I exhale while the humidifier is warming up.

I'm a big fan of bi-level since if you have to go to high pressures you can at least get exhalation relief - and you have the option of running it as straight cpap if that works better for you - i also am happier with Resmed over Respironics ( having tried 2 of each units - system one apap, system one apap/bipap, resmed s9 vpap s, resmed s8 asv adapt enhanced

But i should add that NONE of them controls my apnea particularly well - in general i can get my ahi down to around 8-10 - and that includes adding a dental appliance

Although I use my machine in CPAP mode for the most part now ... I still think everyone should have an APAP data capable machine.

With an APAP machine you are able to monitor your own efficacy and adjust when and if necessary.

I should add .... as long as you don't need a bi-level or more advanced machine.

I love my S9 Autoset--If I could only have one machine-any machine, that would be it. (don't need bilevel)
If money were a problem, Intellipap Autoadjust works quite nicely and has a 5 year warranty (Unless you get it from a DME.)
Intellipap will also run cheaply off a 12 volt power supply (in case of another natural disaster)

After using my ResMed S9 AutoSet for a year now, I would strongly recommend it to you.
