Newbie - Trip to the Doctor for nose sores
You are all probably glad that I can't post pictures on this site. I got my unit about a week and a half ago and was using the nose mask. After the very first night I noticed a big sore on my nose. Night two, I loosened the straps. Nose got more sore each night. (As in Rudolph Red) Called med supply company and they told me if it doesn't calm down in a few days I could try some kind of liner. Yesterday, I had had enough and went in. They gave me a nose pillows. Had a little problem getting the things adjusted. Woke up and my nose where the other mask had been had exploded into this unmentionable sore. Went to the doctor and he said it was probably some kind of fungus that got started due to the humidity of the nose mask? Have you ever heard of this? Now I am sentenced to two cremes 3x a day for 3 weeks to try to clear this up. I am hoping it clears up soon. I dread going out in public.

I'm sorry you are off to a rocky start. I hope that despite the nose troubles that you've found some relief with less apneas each night.

While checking out this forum you apparently didn't come across that photo of lazer's eye infection after a night of killer leaks from his nasal mask. A precedent has been set.jazu4ea wrote:You are all probably glad that I can't post pictures on this site. I got my unit about a week and a half ago and was using the nose mask. Sorry, though, about your mask injury and infection. I'm surprised that the med supply people told you to keep using the mask after you reported the initial problem. Continued pressure and friction on already-compromised skin, there's no chance for healing. Once the skin is broken it's vulnerable to infections but a fungal infection due to humidification from your cpap machine doesn't make sense to me.
Oh, and welcome to the forum jazu4ea. I hope your nose heals quickly.
