ResMed S9 data logging question?

Post by aaronrkelly » Wed Jan 02, 2013 6:07 am

Lets say someone needed to use my machine......

If I pull the SD card out of it while its being used will the keep my data and compliance data from being tainted by the temporary user?

If they, for some reason, wanted to log data could they swap a card into it?

IE......could two people use one machine and keep the data straight by just swapping cards in and out?

I am thinking the machine is going to mix the data since it has a internal disk drive that the data is recorded onto. I have not heard of any machine that can keep two different users data separate. Two machines for two people. Removing the SD card will not make any difference in either way.

Note : This is what my medical supplier told me when I got my machine & that the SD card was used as a backup since I have a transmitter also connected to the back of the machine which sends my data to my supplier who forwards the info to my sleep doctor.

I wasnt aware there was internal storage....good thing I ask.

My main goal was I have a friend that comes to visit occasionally. She works days.....I work nights......so those few times a year she wouldnt need to bring her machine.....but I dont want my data compromised.

The only way for your friend to use the machine and not have her data mix with yours is for you to reset the therapy data to zero when your friend is going to use the machine and yes, she could use her own SD card (generic SD card is fine) and then when you are going to be using it then you reset the therapy data to zero again.
Resetting the therapy data to zero will erase all prior therapy data from the machine's internal memory. This includes hours of use that might be used for insurance compliance but if insurance requirements have already been met then you won't be needing the old data that is stored on the machine.

I have loaned my machines out...all I do is reset the therapy hours to zero and when the machines come back to me...erase again.
I don't really have to have the data on the machine because I have the data already in the software. Besides the S9 overwrites the detailed data every 7 days anyway.

Reset to zero won't change the overall run hours that the machine has been used...it just resets to zero any therapy hours used along with the data that is collected. This is an easy thing to do with the S9...there's a choice for reset to zero in the S9 clinical menu under configuration menu and says "erase data".
The PR S1 has a similar option in its clinical menu.
This is how DMEs dispense used machines and not have prior user data get mixed in with the new user data.
