Ordering machine from cpap.com, call or online order?
Someone mentioned in a post that its better to phone in an order. That they might give a better rate. Don't know where to find that posting again but does it hold any truth?
cpap.com already has the lowest price on a machine package I'm buying.
Call anyways? I like internet ordering better

I prefer online ordering too, but for a big purchase like this I would definitely call.cosmo wrote:Someone mentioned in a post that its better to phone in an order. That they might give a better rate. Don't know where to find that posting again but does it hold any truth?

Cpap.com will match prices; but, their bundling saved me way more moolah!
Once my big item was in the cart, they pulled out all the stops!

I ordered the machine today, but didn't call in. I was browsing around the site and was going to close out of the browser but got a chat popup that said I could get a further discount by clicking on the link. I had the items in my cart for a while.
The extra $25 off was enough for me to finally submit the order

Same here. Did you get the Cpap.com battery pack for it?

I ordered on line last time and screwed up my credit card number so I ended up calling anyway. I loved the way they didn't make me feel like a total twit for reversing numbers.

No battery pack.chunkyfrog wrote:Same here. Did you get the Cpap.com battery pack for it?
After discounts, the cpap.com battery pack (6.6 Amp Hr, 2.5lbs) would be $207 and would last 14 hours at my 7cm setting. 10 Hr to fully charge. I thought it over and saw it wouldn't be a good value. Only 1.5 days for $200.
I already have a battery booster unit for cars (18 Amp Hr, 26lbs) that can do 4 days and it only cost $70.
If I still want a lightweight portable pack in the future, I would get the C-222 li-on battery for $400 (18.5 Amp Hr, 4lbs). 4 - 4.5 days of usage. 5-6 Hr to fully charge. 2x the price but amount triple the performance and quicker recharge time.

I had been thinking about using a Li-Poly battery and balance charger from Hobby King, but it occurred to me that a non-cpap-labeled battery might cause waves with the airlines, etc., besides, would not qualify for FSA.

Re: Ordering machine from cpap.com, call or online order?
I know some people like to order merchandise by phone, but I personally try to avoid phone orders and have a strong preference for ordering online, so that I can see and review with my own eyes everything appearing onscreen before hitting the submit button.
It may date back to an experience several years ago when I ordered some merchandise by phone that I was desperate to get, and I never heard anymore and never received it. When I called back after the predicted delivery date came and went, they (not our sponsor and not a xpap seller) told me they cancelled the order as soon as the credit card didn't go through! When I insisted that they read back to me the credit card number they submitted, it was obvious that the original order taker had transposed two numbers. I had read it to her slowly right off the card. When I complained why they didn't call me back to resolve the rejection, they told me it was their policy not to waste their employees' time on orders "rejected" even though the rejection was their order taker's error, not mine!
When I told someone knowledgeable in the field that, from then on, I was going to insist that telephone order takers read back my credit card number to be sure they got it right, I was told that that was a bad idea - that many order-taking centers are not well-policed and an order-taker reading my credit card number out loud could in some instances be overheard by bystanders with larceny in mind.
Now I love online purchasing, and even buy some of our dry grocery items by subscription from Amazon! I never phone in orders any more. Just my experience, FWIW.
Regards, Nate

Re: Ordering machine from cpap.com, call or online order?
I've worked at call centers. My supervisor at one call center said that when he did QA's (listening to agent phone calls and scoring them), he could sometimes clearly hear several other agents in the background. That call center had serious problems with phone line quality. I've noticed that phone agents talk louder when the phones sound bad, because customers complain that they can't understand the agent.NateS wrote: When I told someone knowledgeable in the field that, from then on, I was going to insist that telephone order takers read back my credit card number to be sure they got it right, I was told that that was a bad idea - that many order-taking centers are not well-policed and an order-taker reading my credit card number out loud could in some instances be overheard by bystanders with larceny in mind.
Another local call center has switched to work-at-home. I decided not to apply for a job with them because I live in an apartment with thin walls and no air conditioning. I could not imagine trying to get through the summer without opening the window or front door. Even if you live in a house, credit card theft by eavesdropping teenagers or roommates could be a problem.
It's not all bad, though. Another call center I worked at is very strict about not allowing pens or personal cellphones near the phones. Also, their phones are crystal clear, so the agents don't need to speak loudly.

I have ordered both ways, and do prefer online ordering when possible.
It is nice to be able to print out my own "paper trail"--just in case.
