Heated hose question
I have resmed vpap s with hi5 / heated hose also . I under stand that with the heated hose the temp on the machine is self regulating. But mine stays at 80 degrees, or where ever I set it. thats ok but I run out of water on nights that is lower humidity. I must have my machine set wrong some where? where should I check & what should it be set at so the heated hose works correctly?
Thank You
Thank You

Re: Heated hose question
Look at your manual... it will tell you how to adjust the temperature. Sheriff

Re: Heated hose question
Thanks sheriff.
I see how to do that, BUT it says that my machine will adjust its self up and down, defalt is 80 degrees. But I must have shut it off some how. I went in and set the machine so when I take my mask OFF the machine cuts off by its self. Then when I come back to bed I put it back on & it turns on by its self. other than that thats the only adj. I have done (to speak of)

Re: Heated hose question
Well... if the machine is set at 80 degrees, then when the temperature is above 80 degrees, it will cut back until it reaches 80 degrees. If the temperature is below 80 degrees, it will heat up until it reaches 80 degrees. Lower the temperature (below 80 degrees) and see if the water tub empties out. When I first started therapy, I was using my humidifier, and the tub ran dry also. I called the DME, and they said it shouldn't do that. They ended up repairing the humidifier. They gave me a spare to use while mine was being repaired. If you are allowed to have the temperature at 80 degrees, then you ought to be able to have it set at that temperature. Your tub shouldn't run dry... call your DME and tell them your situation.

Re: Heated hose question
The default Climateline hose setting on the machine is for "automatic".. This means that the machine will always try to deliver 80% humidity no matter what temperature you set it at. So the only choice on the machine turning the knob which adjusts the temperature.
So the default is for 80% humidity and you may have seen 80 degrees on the machine screen..that temperature setting is what you can adjust.
To adjust the humidity you have to go into the clinical menu and take it off the automatic setting and change it to "patient" which makes it a manual adjustment ...both humidifier setting (1 thru 6) and temperature setting (I forget how low to 86 degrees)
Amount of water used each night is going to depend on ambient room humidity...temp...pressure used...leaks..and whatever settings you are used.
Some nights I use nearly all the water and some nights not much use...and I change nothing on the machine.

OK, now I AM confused.Pugsy wrote:The default Climateline hose setting on the machine is for "automatic".. This means that the machine will always try to deliver 80% humidity no matter what temperature you set it at. So the only choice on the machine turning the knob which adjusts the temperature.
I was told in another thread that the % humidity changed when you changed the temperature in Auto Mode.
Now, it seems to be that in Auto Mode, the humidity stays at 80% no matter what you change the temperature to.
EDITED TO ADD:
Never mind.
I found the other thread and because I never did "subscribe" to it, I was never notified of the additional posts in that thread.
Those additional posts cleared it up completely.
To be honest, I had never bookmarked, etc. the info I had read that led me to believe that the 80% humidity WAS constant. But, I had determined that from some source other than just the Clinician's Manual when I researched it fairly thoroughly before lowering just the temperature on my S9 AutoSet in very early spring 2012.
I am glad that the constant 80% humidity is correct, because I had told that to more than one person.

Did you read the rest of that other thread after we had our discussion? There was more to it after you posted and I responded. I changed my mind ....woman's perogative your know....StuUnderPressure wrote: OK, now I AM confused.

I am thinking that the temp and % humidity things that I pointed out to you refer to manual adjustment. The manual doesn't make things real clear (big surprise there). Anyway...it bugged me and I called ResMed for clarification and Slarty explained it to me in a manner that I sort of understood. You your were right and I ate a bit of humble crow pie in that other thread.

Yes, I just read the rest of that other thread & edited my post in this thread (see my edited post just before yours).Pugsy wrote: Did you read the rest of that other thread after we had our discussion? No pie (humble or otherwise) needed - unless you just like pie.
I should have left a trail to the information I had previously found - especially for something as important as this.
But Slarty did an even better job of explaining why it is so.
If I would have know, I would have just asked him from the get-go.
