hello
I want to start by saying thank you to everyone on forum. You have helpmore than you know . I was diagnosed with severe apnea almost five years ago and only used the cpap a few days here and there thru all those years. 35 apneas per hour. I was feeling horrible the past year..... Having fibromyalgia like symptoms, depressed and anxious, gerd, and was put on a lot omedication. I decided to go back to my sleep doctor thinking it may be my apnea since I ruled out everything else but the doctor said sleep apnea would not give those symptoms. I think they though I was whacked when I told her how felt. I had gone online over the years to look it up but always went to places like web md and they would just give you a list of non specific symptoms. I ended up going to your forum and wow...they werewriting exactly what I was dealing with
By the way ...I was non compliant cause when I used the cpap I was more tired and could not sleep less than 10 hours so I would stop thinking it made it worse. Went to md....they ordered a titration sleep study and a follow up with dme vendor. They never told me that I could feel more tired when I start. After reading this forum I decided to try again and to give it at least 3months. I have been on over 2 weeks and feel much better already.
Ok, here are my questions...
I have the resmed elite. Since it does not have a 2 after it does it mean the first version?
I seen some software for it on ebay. If I get it what kind of info will I be able to see.
I am not sleeping quite as much but could still sleep10 or More hours if I let myself. How long could that go on for. I have been looking at my limited stats on the led and they look really good...ahi 0.1, leak 0.18 , and many of my symptoms are either gone or faded .
Does that zeo thing really work.
Thanks again. I am sure I will have more questions. Just trying to focus on being compliant. I am upset that I did not do this years ago.

Welcome to the forum.
Did you get a new machine or are you using the machine you got 5 years ago?
No need to purchase the software. You can find ResScan in UncleBob's signature line.

If you didn't get a new machine you will also need a special carder reader to use the software. Extremely hard to find and very pricey. EBay is the only place I know of. It looks like this
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... -cpap.html
If you got a new machine then the model should be S9 and you won't need the special card reader.
Click on the link in my signature line to see if your machine looks like mine. All the S9 models have the same housing.
I don't know what differences there were between the S8 Elite and the S8 Elite II. If it is the S8 Elite then your large leak line in the sand for that machine would be 0.40 L/sec.
If you have the S8 Elite it will look like this one.
It would be helpful if you would add your equipment to your profile.

This leak number suggests not a S9 machine but instead the S8 model Elite.Sleepigal wrote:leak 0.18 ,

Re: Trying to be compliant
I don't have any answers to your questions, but wanted to say congratulations on finding a solution to your various problems, and tackling this head-on.
I'm about two months in, and I am feeling better and not so tired. My work schedule of late has been brutal, and I don't know how I would have made it if not for my compliance.
Keep it up!

Re: Trying to be compliant
Thanks for your responses . Yes I am still using the same machine from 5 years ago. It is the s8. Thank you for showing me the software cause I did not want to buy the wrong one. They have two items on eBay from Israel but I never ordered from overseas like that. There is also someone in the us selling.
I just got all the stats from my cpap...
Weekly results are..
Leak..18
Ahi. 2.4
Ai..1
Hi 2.4
Is there someplace I can read what the numbers actually mean. I think it is good cause they are low, I feel better since many of my symptoms are gone or going and I don't wake up due to leaks or dry mouth. My pressure is only 6 so I think that helps.
And I am changing doctors after my follow up appointment next week. I need her to write orders for new tubes etc.

Re: Trying to be compliant
Welcome! Glad you found us and are feeling better. My husband is the patient and he usually sleeps 9hrs or so but then only requires a short mid-morning nap. If he sleeps less he usually naps longer. He's a senior. If you have nothing pressing going on that forces you to get up and you feel better during the day, I don't think it's a problem. Keep us posted.

Re: Trying to be compliant
The S8 will need a special card reader that is no longer easily or cheaply available.

Re: Trying to be compliant
Generally we like to see the AHI less than 5.0...so you have that covered very well.
Leak number to avoid for the S8 machine is 0.40 L/sec (which equals the 24 L/min that the S9 uses) so you have that covered as well.
It's up to you if you want to see the graphs that the software will show you. Some people find that the information available on the LCD screen is enough. If you can find the special card reader at a price you are happy with and want to see what the software offers you can of course try it.
The S8 machine doesn't offer the same comprehensive data as the S9 though. If you foresee a new machine some time in the near future you might want to save your $ and use it toward a new machine where you have more data available.

Thank you all for your replies. They all helped a great deal. In answering my questions and giving needed encouragement. I found the other articles in the lightbulb on top. And am considering whether I want to invest into the software since I may be able to get a newer machine in a few months.
