I just read on the booklet that comes with my Swift FX nasal pillow mask that they are not compatible with resmed Asv machines - is this All nasal pillows - I've tried to find with a google search what masks you can or can't use with asv but i've not found anything.
What has been the experience of the people here with asv machines?
And why wouldn't a mask be compatible with this type of machine?

Re: mask compatibility with resmed ASV machines
That's absurd. The pressure changes are challenging for masks (and mouth leaks), but all masks which don't leak are compatible with it.
I use Swift LT with a resmed vpap adapt just fine, thanks!

Re: mask compatibility with resmed ASV machines
To clarify: an ASV machine changes pressure on each breath, and this makes masks inflate/deflate constantly - even more than a BiPAP typically will. Your pressure can go from 8 to 22 for example on a single breath. Masks which aren't fitting well can leak a lot.
If your mask fits well, this won't be a problem.

Re: mask compatibility with resmed ASV machines
I think what you are seeing in the mask literature pertains to the older model ASV type of machines that were based on the S8 and older models. Those machines did have some mask restrictions but the S9 machine don't seem to have those restrictions. If you look at the Swfit FX literature it doesn't say S9 VPAP Adapt or similar...it just says ResMed VPAP whatever. If it doesn't have S9 in the name it is based on the older models and that is why the restriction.

+1
Full face was prescribed by Doc. DME handed it to me and performed a three minute "fitting".
It took a bit of "fiddlin' about" to get my mask adjusted to where it's effective, but it's effective.
