Importing pic into SH without photo bucket Mac

Post by Always tired » Wed Dec 05, 2012 10:10 pm

Has anyone out there figured out a way to take a screen shot of SH data and import it into a post WITHOUT going through Photo Bucket or a similar service? Mac computer. Same question on any pic needing import into a post or reply.
Thanks in Advance,
A T

I take it you do know how to screenshoot on a Mac? Shift/Comm/3 all at once - appears in upper rt. corner.

Hey very cool! That works! I've owned Macs/Apples for 27 years and I never knew that trick. I have a separate app that does screenshots.

and for what it's worth, I have not been able to figure out how to imbed a pic without photobucket. Doesn't mean that you can't I'm sure.

you can't. you must upload the photo someplace else and post the link to it in the post. there's no way around that.

It doesn't have to be photobucket. Any internet website that will host images will work but the images have to be hosted somewhere on the web for us to pull a link to them. There's no way to embed images or links to the images if they aren't on the web. Some forums allow members to have an individual gallery similar to the little gallery that we have our avatar images here in our profile but there is no way to add other images to that gallery. The space needed for everyone is just prohibitive. This board format just doesn't allow individual galleries. Typical copy/paste of images won't work. The images simply have to be hosted elsewhere so they can be either linked to or addy can be inserted so the image shows up without a link to.

I use imageshack.us

Looks like they have some sort of desktop program that will upload from PC to internet without opening browser. I still do it the old fashion way.

If your on mac - use cloudapp (on the app store), it's free and automatically uploads your images when you take a screen shot. From there you can just paste the direct link into your posts.

I use a similar program, called LightShot. You can do a screenshot of your size choice (i.e., showing just the data you want in height/width rather than the whole screen) and then choose to upload it to their server (it's not automatic) and get the URL for posting the image. You can also save it on your computer. All but the uploading is probably similar to the Vista/Win 7 'snipping' tool, but I never knew about the snipping tool until months after I started using LightShot for partial screenshots.

i should have clarified myself a little better. I know how to do a screenshot and a "snip" of a portion of the screen. I was just trying to figure out how to cut out the middleman and cut and paste directly into the post.
Thank you all,
A T (but not so much this morning)

I figured that was what you were wanting to do. I have never figured out a way to cut out the need for hosting the image somewhere. Can't eliminate the middleman. Best we can do is find a middleman that requires the least amount of work and we like him.
