Bad Night events

Post by derek70 » Wed Nov 28, 2012 1:46 pm

I'm just wondering, how many of you have experienced bad nights.
I finally managed to get my AHI under 2. After several fine tuning in my S8 Autoset I've set my S8 for CPAP and 8 pressure (no EPR).

For three nights I had AHI<1 and AI=0 and then this morning when I checked my S8 LCD there's AHI=4.8 and AI=0.9 !!!

The funny part is that I fell better today than the day I woke and my AHI was near zero.

Leak was under control, dont know what happened.

sorry about my bad english, It's not my native idiom.

derek, I had many bad nights. See one of them here from a last day in a February, 2012:

I think that you should NOT pay attention to AHIs below 10.

See here that my AHI at that night was 18.9, but I continued with changes of a new mask, machine to APAP, and reduced the pressure a bit, and now IO get my AHI close to zero for the last 6 months. Yes, it took me time. You can do it too.

What's your native idiom?

One bad night can mean anything from your having turned over in bed and dislodged (moved) the mask too much on one side, to having eaten the wrong thing before bed and having acid reflux that may not have awoken you, but still affected your system. Wait and see what happens over a few days or more (and be careful of what you eat and drink ).

Maybe you felt better because you slept more deeply, and thus had more hypopneas.
Many of us have more events in REM sleep. Good sleep is more important than perfect numbers. Give it a few days and see what happens.

for what it's worth, i have an MD friend at one of Harvard's teaching hospitals who thinks that apnea should only be diagnosed with an ahi over 15 and/or only if the oxygen levels drop into the eighties for an extended period of time - she thinks "mild" apnea was created to make money - she's a pediatric oncologist
