THE FIRST FEW NIGHTS
Did anyone feel like superman or wonder woman for the first few nights on cpap and then crash and feel like the life was sucked out of you? I had this experience for 3 glorious days. I was cleaning my house non stop cause I had not done it in 6 months. I felt like I was twenty. I had sooo much energy. I crashed and had severe brain fog after that. I am now starting to slowly feel better after 2 months on this machine.

Re: THE FIRST FEW NIGHTS
walking coma,
For me the effect of PAP treatment was immediate and life changing. That being said, there are still the good nights, OK nights, and sometimes even weird/bad nights, just like we used to have long before we were ever diagnosed with sleep apnea. If we look back with honest eyes, our sleep was never exactly the same each night due to a number of possible factors, but we didn't pay as much attention to that pre diagnosis & therapy, like we do now, post diagnosis & therapy; seems we are more aware, even some of us almost hyper aware. As has been said here many times by some of the 'wise ones', our PAP therapy is only good for helping to solve the problem of SA/OSA (helping to keep open partially closed or fully closed airways by splinting the airway open). It may help some other issues/problems, but it is not going to fix any of the other issues/problems we might have that could be contributing factors to getting poor sleep or even having extreme daytime sleepiness, like insomnia, pain issues, bad sleep hygiene, PLM, GERD, etc...
I have found that over time, as the days turned into weeks and the weeks turn into months, that my therapy has become much more consistent and effective. For a lot of us there even comes a day when the weird/bad nights (where sleep is fragmented, equipment issues are down right maddening, etc...) are few and far between. I guess we get into some sort of groove and everything sails along pretty smoothly. The hard and fast rules of sleep, SA/OSA, and PAP therapy, is that there are no hard and fast rules !!
May your therapy continue to improve !

Re: THE FIRST FEW NIGHTS
I've been using cpap for four months. My energy improvement has been gradual. Never had a glorious sudden improvement. But I definitely feel better.
