Neither...I sleep on my left side facing the CPAP and the hose hangs off the bed towards the floor.

For myself I have my hose put over the bedpost on my side of the bed. Helps it be less 'in the way' while I sleep. It also keeps the hose of the floor where it is less a 'oohh interesting' item for our cats.

Mine (and DH's) hang by bungee's from swinging fishing poles about 3 feet above our heads.
Our bedroom looks a bit kinky.

@ chunkyfrog: can you explain that a bit more please? Or post a photo? Are they really fishing poles?

I sleep in my stomach and mine just hangs off the side of the bed.

Ok, picture a cheapie swivel plant hanger screwed on the wall about 30" above the end of the headboard.
http://www.sears.com/national-mfg-9inch ... 250843003P
Now, pull the skinny end section off a cheap casting rod. (springy, isn't it?) (excuse to buy him a nice, NEW rod)
Duck tape the rod to the plant hanger, using plenty of good tape.
There should be two or three little rings mounted to the rod, one at the very end.
Hang your hose from these, using whatever stretchy material you have handy, and whatever rings are positioned best.
I use the end ring for the TV remote, as it is too far over for my hose (and a bit too flexible).
Hubby hangs his hose in slings of stretchy headbands attached to 2 key card reels tied to two rings of his pole.
(his end ring is broken off the pole.)
My hose hangs from soft ponytail scrunchies hung from linked sili bandz (kid's thin silicone bracelets from Shopko),
tied with recycled venetian blind cord to the remaining two rings.
I'm at work right now--can't do any photos right now.

My Optilife came with a small clip on the short hose that I clip to my t-shirt so my hose runs down my chest and then over the side of the bed.

straight down until it reaches approximately my sternum.... after that, it goes wherever it wants.

Note -having the hose go straight down, stops any leaks developing around my chin from my full face mask.

I keep mine straight down & kind of cradle it against my body. I think everyone is different and you will find the position that works for you. If you are comfortable, then its the right position. Try several of these suggestions to see what feels 'right'.

ps. If you are the bobdylan that posted a few weeks ago - glad to have you back, I was worried for you and glad you are trying to make your CPAP work.

jencat, I don't think bobdylan is the same person as bobdillon. The 20-yr-old bobdillon who first posted on Nov. 10 shows only 3 posts total in his profile. Our friend who started this thread joined last year and has 24 posts according to profile info.

Bobdylan, the context: we had a young guy in considerable distress who posted on the 10th and has not posted since. Many of us were concerned about him and continue to wonder if he's doing ok.

Hosewise -- I have a loop on the top of my mask that allows me to route the hose over my head, and from there it drapes over my headboard and then over to the machine. Works pretty well for me.

Here is my hose management, very simple and works very well. It's allmost like the hose is not there anymore. It allows the hose to simply float freely and follow all my movements
