Which Zeo model to get?

Post by DougalMcDougal » Thu Nov 22, 2012 2:21 pm

Hi
I'm interested in getting a Zeo
- I've read the threads about its questionable accuracy and am happy to try it anyway

which model would you recommend, the Zeo Sleep Manager Pro (mobile unit) or the Zeo Sleep Manager Pro+ or the Zeo Sleep Bedside Sleep Manager ?

Thanks

I prefer the bedside; hubby wants to get a second one, so we don't have to "time-share"
We have Android phones, and I didn't want to be killing the battery when it should be charging.

The bedside unit, although larger, offers a little more flexibility. For example, it is possible (with mods) to read your data card directly on your PC without the website as well as monitor brainwaves in real time (again with mods). The mods are published on the Zeo site. In my opinion, the hacker's choice would be the bedside. On the otherhand, the mobile is mobile.

I just got the mobile and I like it. I don't know enough about coding and software to play around with mods and get the extra data. I travel a lot and like that I can take the system with me. I solve the battery problem by leaving the phone on the charger while its recording. When I get up my phone is charged. If I get bored in a morning meeting at work I can ponder my data and look like I'm working.

What are you trying to do with the machine? In other words what is the outcome you are looking for?

I second Jay's comment, although I have had mine for almost a year and have not yet come anywhere close to hacking anything. I have slacked off on using it, especially since a) the sensors need replaced and b) the mask I switched to now has a big bar right where I used to put the Zeo. I still think it is a neat gadget and plan to get back to using it eventually . . . .

P.S.: For any Zeo users, their site says they are running a Black Friday sale, 20% off any purchase, for 24 hours.

I bought mine at Best Buy. No help for the 20% sale if that's what you were looking for, but if you really want to pick one up sale or no sale, you might check with them. As of right now, the store nearest where I live does not have any at the store, but the store nearest where I work does. I do not know if there are any other retailers that sell them or not.

I'm thinking about getting the Zeo Bedside model myself. Looks like you have to change the headbands every 3 months since the sensors wear out. But I don't mind if the thing actually works.

It seems like you can import the Zeo data into Sleepyhead software. That is what sparked my interest. I already have a CMS50F Oximeter on order that also can be imported into Sleepyhead.

can you import Zeo info into sleepyhead easily from the mobile unit or is it only the bedside unit?

is it easy to do e.g. how many key clicks and steps and how much time does it take to import the info into Sleepy head (on a Mac)?

also, does anyone know the difference between the "Zeo Sleep Manager Pro" "and the Zeo Sleep Manager Pro +" the web site implies that he Pro+ has a different charger, is this the only difference and is it worth it?

I bought a Zeo Personal Sleep Manager at Best Buy on Sunday. Its pretty cool.

The levels are almost normal. I don't know what importing into Sleepyhead does. I don't see anything after uploading the CSV file.

Thanks for the screenshot, Cosmo - great info and first time I've seen what info the Zeo will give you. It's going back on my Santa list!

Cheers,
xena
