Kept the cats out
Last night we kept the bedroom door closed to our two cats and it was wonderful. No cats behind by lower back or behind my knees. No cats walking around the pillows and stepping on my hair. No cat disagreements. No burrowing under the covers. I was really amazed and thought that they would have clawed the door down, but did not.
Seriously my SH numbers looked good this mornings and with about 7 hours of sleep I feel okay. Quality sleep, I am learning, is a work in progress.
For today life is good.

I've suggested this to many patients and for the most part they are unwilling to sleep without their pets. It can be disturbing to sleep just by having a sleep partner roll over in bed, but with nocturnal animals in the room, it can spell disaster.Always tired wrote:Last night we kept the bedroom door closed to our two cats and it was wonderful. Re: Kept the cats out
I've pretty much always kept my cats out. Sweethearts though they are, at night they wander around too much [on top of me!] and want to get in just the wrong place for me to turn over or move around. They are used to it, but one or two sometimes still try to dart in the room before I close the door, and are waiting for me right up against the door when I open it in the morning.

Re: Kept the cats out
Not to mention regarding cats, that they can turn on your hose whilst you sleep, probably viewing it as a snake or something that they have to attack. I lost a hose about a month ago out of no-where to a presumably calm little growing kitty-cat. Woke up to the strange sound of air releasing and after adjusting my mask for like 2 minutes, finally realized I had about a dozen pin holes in my MAIN hose as the cat sat on the end of the bed looking back at me with a snarly look.
End Result: Cat is now locked out of bedroom even though I bought a hozy cozy , I still don't trust this to not re-occur.

Re: Kept the cats out
My cats have all been trained when each has come to live with us, that we have 'no-no' rooms and the bedroom is one of them. Also my dressing room & laundry room. We have 10 wonderful kitties, but I cannot imagine sleeping with them all. Occasionally (very occasionally) if one is ill, or need isolation, we let them sleep with us (we do isolate all newcomers until they have been FELUK & FELV tested & fixed). The bedroom is something special for them and again, occasionally we might bring one in before bedtime on a weekend for a little playtime. But they go out when the lights go out. In that small space of isolation time, I about go crazy! Cats are curious by nature & want to play with the hose! My vote is cats don't belong in MY bedroom expect for special reasons only. If you are gifted with a cat that will leave your CPAP alone, you are lucky, so sleep with them. My house will maintain the bedroom as a 'no-no' room'.

Lucky one with a kitty who sleeps just inches below by CPAP hose and shoulder. Over a year now, without any incidences! BTW he is a 14 year-old cat.

Re: Kept the cats out
My wife and I have been going around and around about this for years. Finally we agreed that since the pets get our attention for almost all the daytime hours (we're both retired) it's no big deal for them to fend for themselves overnight. Now the last one to go to bed turns off the thermostat, turns off the lights and chases the pets out of the bedroom. Seems to work, tho I haven't taken a poll of the fuzzy one's opinions

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Re: Kept the cats out
The cat is not a problem now. It now sleeps and stays in one place on the bed near my feet, when it decides to sleep there at night, which is not that often anymore. Since it got cold there has been a problem with mice and it now spends the night patrolling the house like a shark. Next spring the other side of the house foundation is getting dug up! But there are no mice in the house proper, it is a good hunter and I quietly dispose of the bodies it presents me before the old people wake up.
The dog also sleeps on the bed at my feet. It doesn't move.
When they first arrived in June, they were glued to me, or at least when the cat came out from behind the furnace it was.

Re: Kept the cats out
My cats have always had to avoid me moving at night, so they learn where it is safe to sleep. Those who want to cuddle have learned where it is safe. Quinn likes to curl up next to me, and i wake up with my arm around her. Sometimes she is on top of my hose, but she is so light, it doesn't matter. And she shows no interest at all in the hose, even if it is on top of her.
Jay Jay has never liked to cuddle, so he sleeps on the bed, but out of reach.
I used to have a great nurse kitty, and he would wake me up when my breathing was really bad. It took me awhile to figure it out, but he would paw at my face and leave once I was awake. I realized he was preventing the choking fits I would have. He died about a year and a half ago, and my choking fits increased a lot.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

Re: Kept the cats out
Have got five cats, three males, and two females -all fixed. No problem with them bothering any of my CPAP equipment. One or two of them sleep in bed with us, but don't stay the full night. Don't close the bedroom door either.
Re: Kept the cats out
And my darling walks over to the machine, steps on the Off button and tada I'm awake . Guess who gets breakfast early?
Re: Kept the cats out
We have 3 cat's and they've never bothered my cpap stuff from day one. They have free roam of the house and the bedroom door stays open. Two like to sleep on the bed in the winter cause it's warmer, the other sleeps on the bed in the spare bedroom. They are older cat's 10,11 and 13 years. They've never been on the ground since we bought them home strictly indoor cat's. We have a big screen room though that they spend all day in when it's nice out.

Re: Kept the cats out
Quinn has done that once. But she was headed toward me to curl up. I have been fortunate that all of my cats over the years have been patient with me. They do not wake me for breakfast. If I get up, they will go to the feeding station, but they don't harass me. When I am sick, and stay in bed many hours later than normal, they still show mercy and wait patiently. I do keep dry food out 24/7, so they have something available. But they do get canned food twice a day.And my darling walks over to the machine, steps on the Off button and tada I'm awake . Guess who gets breakfast early?

Re: Kept the cats out
I stay at my mother's house most of the time to help care for her, but my sister's cat does not bother my machine and hose. She doesn't like a closed door so she will scratch at it tho. I hope she doesn't learn how to step on the off button on my machine when she wants to be fed. I get up and make the coffee in the a.m.'s and she is right there wanting to be fed. Thank God her cat doesn't bother my machine and hose. I just got a new hose because there is a weak spot that will get a hole in it, but I haven't replaced it in a couple of years. HAae a great day, huggies. Fay
