Progress with leaks???

Post by jencat824 » Thu Nov 15, 2012 12:53 pm

OK, I've been working on my leak problem & here is my data. I think my leaks are better, but according to the software (which is not very clear), I think I'm doing better, but cannot get much below the 50% line, even though it shows last nite as 6% overall. Any observations:

Oct 28 (using Piliaro mask, no chin strap)
Image

Last nite (using Mirage Vista mask, home made chin strap)

Any input appreciated,
Jen

oh,not sure why one px bigger than the other - using the snip tool & photobucket

Jencat,
What kind of homemade chin strap are you using?

I'm having issues with leakage since going back to cpap from apap.

Well home made chinstrap was an old IQ headgear fitted around my chin & tied at the top of my head. I got my new mask today, Optilife, that has a built in headstrap. Hopefully it will help with the leaks and be better than this chinstrap. I ordered a basic over the head chinstrap & still waiting on delivery.

What do you think of the graphs. This software seems much harder to read than SH, but SH is not compatablile with my machine. The F&P software cost me $89 and doesn't give crap for data. I think, if I'm reading this right, my leaks are getting better. However, just a small improvement would cause the overall leakage to change. Best I can tell the 7 day average changes as the 7th day drops off in each days respecitve data. This is confusing and misleading. Oct 28 showed me as leaking 91%, Nov 14 showed 6% - how was that data contrived? I still cannot figure that out. It looks like my mouthbreathing is better, data says its better, hubby is still weighing in at 'you were loud last nite'. My sleep doc said hubby needs to be tested since he is awake enough to gripe about my noises and sounds all night long. Kinda like he always hears the dogs, but always wakes me to take them out.

I'm far from an expert but the second one looks much better. Does Rescan not work with your machine? I like checking my leaks on there because they actually have a red line on the graph that you're supposed to stay below.

I got a chinstrap and I hate it. It feels like I have a compression stocking on my face. My leaks were MUCH better with APAP but they came and retrieved it Monday night.
I really hate having anything more on my face so I'll probably go back to taping...at least until my doc figures out what I'm supposed to do (Cpap, Apap, NoPap....)

I don't think I tried Rescan, can't remember why not, but I think I'll download it now for a try.

Oh, I remember now, Rescan was the one that took several hours to download, then I had to download a WinZip tool, then the WinZip corrupted some files, and I finally gave up & moved on to SleepHead. I downloaded it fine, it just does not recognize my data, since its from a F&P usb stick.

The first ResScan download takes a bit, but like SleepyHead the followup downloads are quicker. The problem I had with ResScan was getting a SD card reader it would play nice with.

Don't waste your time on ResScan unless you get a ResMed machine.
ResScan only works on ResMed machines...won't work with any other brand.

Your leak line is indeed improved and significantly improved. Only 6% of the time did you hit large leak territory and just barely hit it at that. 6% of 10 hours is 36 minutes out of 10 hours was barely into large leak territory. I think that is a huge improvement.
Anyway, you can tell by looking that you have a much more stable leak line. A few spikes but not as many and not nearly as prolonged.

At your pressure your baseline is going to be right around that 50 L/min mark. I don't think you are going to see much lower. I would count the recent leak graph as a success. Much improved and while not perfect..considering your pressure and how it was before...huge improvement. Leaks are a battle we never totally win but if that last report were mine, I would be happy with it.

Thanks Pugsy. I tried a new mask last nite - leaks at 10%. Mask not very comfortable, I'll post about that mask later asking for some tips.
