Humidifier help please

I have a Resmed S9 and when I turn it on with the water in the reservoir the air isn't warming. I have it set to 86 degrees.

To double check, I wore the headgear and turned on the machine for over 5 minutes, then stuck my finger in the reservoir and the water was still cold. I tried this several times.

Shouldn't the water in the reservoir be warm, especially if the temperature is set to 86 degrees. I can't use the machine as is because it hurts my sinuses. Deja vu?

Remove the tank and feel the heating plate and see if it is getting warm.

The water never really feels warm, but the temperature rises slightly.
When I feel the outside end of the humidifier with my right hand, it feels a bit warm near the bottom.
With my heated hose, the air never feels 'warm', but it's not as cold as it would be otherwise.
If I lift out the tank, I have to be careful in touching the metal inside bottom--it can get very warm.

Thanks. It's *slightly* warm even though it's set at 86 degrees which is the highest setting, but it feels cold when it goes into my sinuses, stings. I guess I'll have to get the techs to look at it. Thanks.

Switch to an unheated hose and crank the humidity setting to max and see what happens. If you don't have an unheated hose, you may be able to swap ends on the hose so it doesn't get plugged in.

I only have one hose with an orange connection that locks securely in the back of the humidifier.

I wore my hubby's fitlife mask once.
This mask tends to keep the whole face warmer than nasal pillows, which was my usual mask at the time.
It might be helpful to keep your face warm outside the sinuses.

Thanks for the info. I'm thinking about the ResMed full face Mask for Her. Might fit better than uni-sex masks.

Will the other end of the hose plug into the humidifier? The other end of the hose should be a standard connector because it fits the mask and it would probably fit the back of the machine the same way a non heated hose will.

It's not something you'd want to do long term, but it should allow you to run the machine in "unheated hose mode" to test the humidifier.
