Where Can I Find A Tutorial On How To Read Encore Data?

Post by MrStein » Sun Nov 04, 2012 4:45 pm

OK, one more question for today.....Where might I find a tutorial so I can learn to read the data from my PR System One REMStar 60 Series Auto CPAP?
I have EncoreBasic and I have downloaded my 1st and 2nd nights data and it is working great. I can see all the waveform data and summary reports.
I just need an education!!!

There really isn't one.
We have the Encore Guide that that shows examples of the basic reports but it doesn't really explain things in the way that I think you are wanting.
http://www.healthcare.philips.com/pwc_h ... _Guide.pdf
It's the only one I have found and it pertains to the ASV machine but the basics are there.

If you are wanting to evaluate actual numbers that you see there really isn't anything.
You can read the SleepyHead tutorial under construction thread in my signature. While the images are different the basics are the same no matter which way you look at it.
Normally we just post an image of the report and ask for input and clarification of what we are seeing.
It's easier when we can see what you are seeing and having trouble understanding.

Remember Encore was designed for DMEs and doctors who already had a working knowledge of what all the numbers mean.

On the waveform data sheets there is a color code that shows what the different marks mean. Once color is for obstructive apnea, another for hypopnea, etc. If you see many marks for apneas or hypopneas in a short period of time, try to think back to the night to decide if you were asleep or awake at that time. I find that I have a number of events while getting to sleep and waking up, not so many during the night. I disregard those that are within a few minutes of starting cpap for the night as I feel they aren't 'real' apneas, just me holding my breath as I turn over in bed, etc. The first time I read the data, I printed out the color code and kept that handy to help me see what events were recorded.

Hey Pugsy...Thanks for that link, that actually helps a lot! How do you normally post your data here? It saves in a pdf.

I use screen shots and treat them like photos. I just take the screen shot and save it as jpg file and upload to Photobucket and then copy the IMG address and paste it in my post. You can use any photo hosting website.

We talked about it here in this thread in more detail. Some people link to the pdf but I like to get the image showing within my post so no one has to click on a link to something.
