noise from slipping mask
noise from slipping mask
I've had the CPAP for over a year and am still on the quest for a mask that doesn't (a) hurt the bridge of my nose or my cheekbones and/or (b) shift to leak noisy air that wakes up my wife. It's quite a challenge. I've tried the Swift nasal pillow (more comfy but shifts and slips around too easily) and now have the Mirage butterfly thing, which also leaks but puts pressure on nose and cheek bones. Sigh. So nothing is really accomplished since neither of us sleeps with this setup. The variety of masks, hoses, and accessories and accoutrements is so overwhelming that just crying seems like the only useful thing to do. Now if I could have a custom-made mask...like custom-made tooth crowns. Is that so impossible? Or would it not serve the industry? Call me cynical.

What works well are the masks with the double silicone seal. Description of Resmed Ultra Mirage Nasal Mask. Two-Layer Cushion has a supportive inner layer that provides superior stability and a soft outer membrane that reduces the likelihood of leaks and pressure sores. Air flowing through the mask inflates the membrane and gently positions it against the face so that it forms a secure seal without the need for tight headgear. This unique design reduces the possibility of pressure sores and provides optimal comfort.
Good luck, a proper fitting mask should not cut off the circulation to your brain. Nor cause you neck pain. The first full facemask I went with leaked nightly and was not fitted properly. The durable medical goods companies will throw anything at you to get you out the door once you pay for your machine. The double seal works wonders and hardly ever leaks.

If you like the idea of the Swift FX nasal pillows and find they are too unstable for you then you might like to try the Aloha.
It is very comfortable and you might find its stability more to your liking.
