Respironics M Series Call For Questions
Greetings cpaptalkers,
The M Series is the sleek new line of super small CPAPs from Respironics. For those who haven't been lurking lately, the M Series Plus is available and shipping without heated humidifier.
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/Remsta ... chine.html
Respironics will be releasing the humidifier in the next few weeks. The M Series Pro and M Series Auto will follow.
In addition to this interview, we will be having another call for questions when the M Series Auto is gearing up for launch. I'm so excited about seeing that little guy I think I could fill up a whole interviews worth of questions myself!
Please post any and all questions you have regarding the M Series Plus, it's soon to be released humidifier or the M Series in general to this thread. I will try my best to get them all answered.
Johnny

Respironics M series Auto
What is the time frame for the arrival of the M series Auto and will this have a DATA card capability?
m series size deceiving
Is the M Series really that small? Does it have a gigantic power cord adapter like a laptop? Also do you need 2 seperate power cords for the heater and the cpap?
It does appear to use the powercord powersupply deal like most laptops. See http://global.respironics.com/UserGuide ... Series.pdf
I was wondering if there is any significant difference between the Plus model (which is out now) and the Pro model due later this year.
As best I can tell, the Pro model has two major differences:
1. auto-altitude adjustment; and
2. More detailed tracking features through the smart card (snore, leak, etc.).
But otherwise, it appears that they are essentially the same machine? Just wondering if there's any compelling reason to wait for or later upgrade to the Pro.
thanks,
Stodd

Several sites now list the M series humidifier for sale. Is it actually available? What is the total weight and size of the M series cpap plus humidifier plus power cord? How does it compare with the Vantage with exhale capability in size for travel purposes?

Remstar Plus M
What exactly is the "Smart Card Module"? The other machines have a smart card and a slot that you enter the card into. Would this module add to the size in any way? Can I use my current Encore Pro Software and card reader for this machine?
How much will the humidifier add in size to the actual unit itself?

M Series
I would like to know the differences in the new M Series Auto, versus the Remstar Auto C-Flex that is currently out. Will this machine completely take its place and still be considered the top of the line auto-adjusting cpap? what functions have been added or even taken away from the current remstar auto?
M Series
Hi,
There are some good questions so far but here is mine:
On the M Series there is this flip top cover over the LCD/Settings Keypad.
Have been any issues with this flip top piece breaking or coming off?
Does it detach and re-attach easily?
Will there be a need for a replacement part?
See picture below for the flip piece I am referring to.

I actually got my first cpap today and it is the M series with the smart card and heated humidifier. Is is actually a pretty small unit. I am looking forward to a good nights sleep using this. The Home medical place just got this model in so this I got it without asking(pretty cool). I wanted the C-Flex option, but I was told that the MD did not prescribe it unless it was needed(??), I ended up getting this feature anyway(!!).
I actually was not even looking at the M series. I had my eye on the Pro 2, but now that I am renting/buying/whatever this M unit i think it will work for what i need. I like how the power adapter for the humidifier plugs in line with the main power cord so there is only one plug in. It did come with the smart card installed, but i do not have the software for it.
It came with some manuals, hose, humidifier, two foam filters, one paper filter, carrying bag, main unit, power cords for everything.

Smart Card, Humidifier
I got my RemStar M Series Plus yesterday. Great machine.
The Humidifier is available; my DME said they just got it. I've also seen it on some -- but not all -- online resellers.
Some of the Plus models that they're selling out there do not yet have the Smart Card feature. You need to read very carefully on the websites to make sure -- oftentimes the blurb will describe the Smart Card feature, but then down below or even on a separate order page, they'll specify "Without Smart Card."
There is an integrated, flush chamber in the back of the machine that will accept the smart card reader (the component into which the smart card goes-- think of it like a CD/DVD port on a laptop). So while it may add every so slightly to the weight, it will not add to the size of the machine.

Ready to purchase a Remstar Auto w/ CFLEX
I am ready to purchase (monday?) the Remstar Auto w/ cflex and heated humidifier. How long to the shipment of the M Series Auto? If 1 month I will wait (like smaller footprint), if longer I will go ahead with the auto. Anyone have any idea other than it is after the heated humidifier shipments?
