What's Wrong With This Picture? Sleepyhead Graph

Post by CocoPazzo » Fri Oct 12, 2012 10:02 am

I have been using a CPAP for several years now and recently upgraded from the ResMed S8 to the ResMed S9 Elite, which allows me to see data about my sleep.

For the most part, my numbers are very good:

Pressure = 6
Avg AHI > 1.0
Avg Leaks > 1.5 (and that includes when I wasn't turning off CPAP when getting up)

Since my numbers are very good, I am not too concerned about what I suspect at anomalies in my graphs-- but would welcome any thoughts as to why I seem to almost always have major gaps in my various graphs, such as Flow Rate shown below from last night. Yes, I did indeed get up a few times-- turning off the machine when I did, and turning it back on once I returned to bed. And I actually felt I slept reasonably well and my AHI for this night was 0.

But why the major gaps?

And before anyone asks, yes, I am experiencing Nocturia, and seeing a urologist in an attempt to reduce the number of times I get up each night.

[I'm hoping that the graph does in fact appear once you click on the URL. If not, I'll make another attempt using some other photo sharing program. Let me know.]

It just looks like you got up and turned the machine off for 30-60 minutes at a time.

If you think it is not accurate, you might try re-booting the machine.

I know that's what it looks like, but I promise you that I restarted the CPAP each time, and even checked to see that air was flowing as I put my pillows back on.

I'll try rebooting-- although I actually did that last night before firing up the machine.

You might try Photobucket.com to get your graphs to display.
I guess I don't understand what you are questioning about your graph. Are you saying you didn't turn off the machine?

Install ResScan if you don't already have it, and check the data there to see if it compares with SH. SH has some glitches at the current time, but I don't know if that's one of them.

unclebob's signature has the links to get resscan.

Lizistired- Yes, I am turning off the machine when I get up and turning it back on when I return to bed. The machine is on, blowing air, with Nasal Pillows firmly in place for much of the night, but the graph available via the link in the message seems to indicate that this is not the case.
Suspect it is a software issue, but don't know. Rebooted with no change.

archangel- Can't use ResScan since I have a Mac

Last year I was using an S9 Elite. At that time I was into my 6 months of CPAPing and the treatment was NOT optimized, yet. As a result I had Nocturia.

You can see in the following graphs that I stopped and started the machine four times.

During the 3 a.m. stoppage I probably took 5 mg of Zolpidem b/c I had difficulties falling back to sleep.

During the last stoppage I slept but have not used the machine at all for about four hours.

During the last 9 months I got my treatment optimized and have no more Nocturia.

See my latest results. Got up to pee only once:

And my recent 30 days Stats:

Took me time to optimize my treatment.
