S9 VPAP auto/ReScan help and advise needed

Post by REMember » Wed Oct 10, 2012 5:09 pm

Greetings all

Last night was my first night on an S9 VPAP auto and today I'm taking my first peek at the ReScan software. I'm totally lost and would greatly appreciate your help. First of all, how do you include your ReScan data in a post on this board?

I seem to have captured very little data last night. "Statistics" is the only data I have. The summary graphs are blank. The detail graphs show "no detail data available." Is there a setting that needs to be changed in order to capture that data?

Does this make any sense? Statistics show that therapy mode is VAuto. Min EPAP is set to 14.6. Max IPAP is set to 17.6 Pressure support is 3.

95th percentile EPAP was 17.6 and 95th IPAP was 17.5??

Um...help please
Of all the things I've lost, I think I miss my mind the most.

Anyone?

I read the clinicians manual front to back yet again. TI Min/Max still puzzles the heck outa me. I take slow deep breaths - at least I do when I'm awake - averaging perhaps 8 to 10 breaths per minute. How does that mesh with the TIcontrol settings?

Anyone have a good source for learning the ReScan 3.16 software in detail?

Something you need to double check: the SD card needs to be IN the machine over the night as you're using it. If you plug it in later, it'll just put on some summary statistics. (I learned this the hard way)

I'm trying to remember if there's a setting on the machine to record the detailed data. I don't believe so, but I could be wrong..

Watch the video tutorial for ResScan linked in my signature below. Dreamdiver did a great job on it!

OK...I showered, applied deodorant, and brushed my teeth. Perhaps I'll be a little more approachable today

How is everyone posting the graphs from their data? Screen capture? If so, which program are you using? Mine seems to be disabled in ReScan.

One question for now.... If the devise settings have the Max IPAP set to 16.8, how can the 95th percentile IPAP be 17.5?

How to post images of your reports...explained here in this thread.

Don't know. It shouldn't. Have you confirmed the settings by looking at them in the machine's clinical setup menu?

Many, many thanks for your response, pugsy!! I have a very early start tomorrow but I'll post my stats and graphs tomorrow.

Yes, I used the clinicians menu on the machine to set the pressures. This morning's download verified the device settings. I will be very grateful for your input when I post the data. This is a brand new machine. If it isn't functioning properly, the sooner I know that - the better.

Thanks again for you help!

What are your settings?
EPAP?
Pressure support?
From the machine clinical menu...

IPAP max being 16.8 confirmed in the clinical setup menu.

I don't know what to tell you about those other settings on the clinical setup menu. I just used the factory defaults and things felt great so I didn't mess with them or bother reading up on them.

Good morning, pugsy. As per the clinicians menu on the machine...Max IPap 16.8, Min EPAP 14, Pressure Support 2.8.

Here are some screen shots. Thanks for telling me how to do them! What do you see in these graphs?

Your PS is very narrow range and the pressure line for some reason looks like a straight line on the report. I don't know why it says you are maxing at 17.5 IPAP when the settings say it should stop at 16.8. I bet it has something to do with a setting though.
The pressure lines should vary...go up and down within the range. Perhaps the range is so tight we just can see the changes.
I use this very same machine and in VAuto mode. I don't have a report using ResCan loaded in my Photobucket so let me find something that shows the dual varying pressure lines and I will see if I can get it loaded up in a bit for you to see.
How come such a tight range?

So setting that mystery aside for right now....your report looks pretty darn good. Leaks a little bit above that red line but not prolonged and I wouldn't be unhappy with that report at all. I don't remember what mask you are using but if your mouth is uncovered (like with over the nose or nasal pillow mask) then my first suspect would be a little mouth breathing. Looks a lot like my reports and I am pretty sure I do a little bit of it myself.
So other than the pressure line and reported pressure number mystery...the rest of the report looks great.

Many thanks for your feedback, pugsy!

Yes, I too suspect mouth-breathing for those huge leaks. That caught me off guard. I didn't expect to see any mouth breathing.

What is the "Pressure (High Rate)" graph? Do the red lines represent the device settings? When zoomed in on, the pressure is consistently above and below the set pressures.

Today, ReScan does not recognize that a data card is hooked up...sigh...

I've been on CPAP for 17 years. I had APAPs between 2000 and 2004 but lightning strikes took them both out. My data was never this good. I'm suspicious though. Yesterday did not feel like a 1.9 kinda day!!!

Oops! Gotta run. Back later.

I don't spend a lot of time with ResScan. So I am not the greatest with its explanation. I don't know what the high pressure graph means or what it is supposed to show. I prefer SleepyHead.

The red part of the lines...yes..device settings.

I can't explain why your IPAP is showing up higher than your supposed setting max. Something is off but I suspect it is some little something related to that tight Pressure Support. Maybe someone else has an idea.

Here's an image of a report of mine where my pressures varied a little more than than normal for me. I chose it so you could see the lines easier.
My settings are EPAP 9 max IPAP 20 and PS of 5. So I get EPAP of 9 and IPAP of 14 when I first start out the night and as the events drive the pressure EPAP and IPAP go up and always separated by 5 cm.
Your current settings aren't much of a range...maybe try EPAP 14...PS of 3 and max IPAP 20 and see what happens.
you would start the night with your normal 14 EPAP and see 17 IPAP and see if the machine wants to increase it up to 20 cm.
