Reasonable and customary - is the term used to describe insurance coverage for CPAP equipment replacement parts.
Any experience what that interval is for a mask replacement?
It seems to be the easiest path, to simply buy a whole new mask, then one has spare parts on hand.
I read that the silicone face cushion should be replaced at least every 6 months.
Apparently, the silicone absorbs 'thingys', that grow over time. Cannot be washed out. Not healthy.

Re: Insurance Question: in the Great White North
this is an individual thing based on many factors. if your mask is working well, keep using it. if its starting to lose its seal, replace it. they do not need to be replaced on a pre-determined schedule. you determine the schedule as you go. in most cases you only need replace the pillows or cushion, not the entire mask.

I don't think it gets "unhealthy," but it will tend to get stiff or something and start to leak. Or crack. Or just look yucky.mtncpapblue wrote:Reasonable and customary - is the term used to describe insurance coverage for CPAP equipment replacement parts.

In the USA, you usually can get cushions replaced a lot more often, often two times a month.
I recommend to get a spare or two of everything as soon as your insurance will allow, and then only order as one of your old ones gets yucky or damaged. Keep all the old parts. You never know when you might need some piece off of that old broken mask to fix your current mask.
