Fisher&Paykel Zest Nasal Mask

Post by eaudejoy » Wed Oct 03, 2012 6:57 pm

Hi - I just received the Zest Nasal Mask but am having problems with it. It fits like a glove but the air flow seems to be directed above my nostrils. I spoke with someone at cpap.com (where I purchased the mask). She said that as long as the air was flowing the mask with fill up with air and the pressure would send the air up my nose. But, I'm not getting that feeling - I'm getting cold air on my nose, and I have to struggle to breathe. Am I doing something wrong? I've had several masks in the past so I have an idea what I should be feeling. Thanks...eaudejoy

I have the Zest. It's not my regular mask, but I use the headgear with the True Blue. I know when I used the Zest I was a completely newbie and when I would take it apart to clean I wouldn't always snap it back together right. Is it possible that maybe it's snapped together correctly? Also, it has a single layer of silicone... could there possibly be a small leak in it?

Please fill in your equipment on your profile. There's a link in my signature below on how to do that.

What's your pressure?

Lift up the edge of your mask. Does air gush out?

Is air gushing out somewhere other than though the vent holes?

If you open your mouth, does air flow in your nose and then out through your mouth in a constant stream?

Sorry to take so long to get back. Thanks for the responses. Fumbling34 - Doesn't seem to be any holes in the gel and I hadn't taken it apart before I used it. Archangle - I tried tried opening my mouth and got no discernible flow there; air does gush out when I lift the edge of the mask. I am using the "medium" (which is supposed to fit the majority of users). I suppose it could be the sizing, though I'm definitely not petite, and the measurement guides they provide show I'm large.

I'm putting in my profile now...eaudejoy
