Just getting older or what ?

Post by RobertinTX » Tue Apr 04, 2006 10:03 am

OK, so I'm not a spring chicken, I never was a chicken anyway but a rooster.

But, I've been having indigestion problems etc.. I have also been experiencing extreme neck stiffness nearly every morning.

I've elevated the head of my bed, checked my CPAP pressures and still have morning neck stiffness. It takes 15 minutes or so to stretch it out.

My question is this....There are a lot of people out there, has anyone else experienced morning neck stiffness and is it CPAP related or not ?
And how did you correct it ??

Thanks and I'll shut up and listen..

Prescription for life's old age pains, B-100's or B-150, cheap and effective.

One daily, everyday and Aspirin 81 mg at bedtime. Other high dose B vitamins are good for you too.

Robert,

I did experience some neck stiffness with different masks. I found myself not turning my head as much to avoid hoses and such. I strongly suggest you consider changing pillows. The cure for me was using a Tempurpedic type, others like the Traget shapeable pillow and then there is the PAP pillow..

It also helped when i attached the hose to the wall above my bed so it was easier to turn at night.

Just some ideas.

Chiropractic therapy.

My Dr. Eric takes care of my neck and shoulders.
Also reminds me that "at my age" I can't do everything I have done for the last several years. That's why I am in the shape that I am in now.
Lifted that barge and toted that bale a few to many times.
Rode hard and put up wet once to often.
All that jazz.
Once a week keeps me limber.
WooHoo! Life is good.

Thanks Peg....

But I doubt you've been rode hard and put away wet too many times.
And lifting the barges and toting those bales isn't fun either.
And I've been told that "age" is a state of mind. But I've lost mine
(mind that is)...
Do you think the good Dr. could work on my neck as well ?????????

I doubt he would commute to TX, but if you can find a good chiro down there, I highly recommend giving them a try.

If we knew then what we know now, we would have taken better care of our bodies when we were young.
But, where would the fun be in that!!

Peg, I was going to offer my G.I. Joe to combat your cat. But I see even with his sword and pistol, he's seriously undergunned.

Hi Robert,
Glad some people still know the difference between a hen and a rooster... but anyways I get a stiff neck sometimes and I think it's caused by ole "arthur". It helps to use a support under the neck and not prop your head up too high. You want the natural curvature of your neck to be supported - not your head pushed forward where your chin is pointing down toward your chest. Also, you will breathe better if your neck is not "kinked".

good luck,
~A

I tend to get stiff necks from the various CPAP interfaces.

my way of dealing with it is to go to a massage therapist about once every 3 weeks for an hour session. This is out of pocket expense, but my wife and I find this to be one of the nicest luxuries in life that we can squeeze into our budget.

Of course the problem with only an hour, the poor therapist can't hit ALL my poor abused muscles EVERY time from CPAP, hiking, mtn biking, xc skiing, yard work, sitting in unnatural positions in the office all day, etc etc.....Life sure does add up! I can't imagine how I survived without the massage therapy.

We pretty much skip many other luxuries in life like restaurants, cable TV, starbucks etc and just dump it into massages. Well worth the trade. And since we pay cash instead of insurance, we actually do get "frequent flyer miles" special deals at the place we use.
