OT: Smoke from forest fires

Another benefit for CPAP users, with all the smoke from the forest fires in Western Montana and Idaho, I look forward to putting on my mask and breathing filtered air for the night. I use the ultra fine filters.

I don't think that your filter works on the tiny (microsize) smoke particles that cause the most lungs damage.
However, the same situation exists during the time that you don't use the CPAP.

There was a small fire near our house. I was out running errands without my inhaler (I know!) and the smoke got to me (smoke is my worst asthma trigger). Luckily I was close to home. I ran home, closed up the house as tight as I could, used my inhaler, and put on my machine. I fell asleep and woke up feeling fine. It was enough to filter out the worst, with the house closed up as well.

I can say it doesn't work for skunk spray. This time of year there are a lot of skunks around, and nearly every night a car nails one on the road that's not even that close to our house. My CPAP machine seems to suck the skunk smell right in if the windows are open. It's a HORRIBLE way to wake up!!!

I cannot say enough about the excellent Pur-Sleep products. I have used (from almost day one) 'clear','calm', and will soon try out a new one, 'peace'. I hope that when it is time for me someday to leave this world that I will be sleeping ever so soundly and my very last breath will be from my beloved XPAP machine along with one of these wonderful scents.

Wellll, I've had some experience with smoke from fires and here, where I live, it comes from people who make charcoal from trees...nasty smokey smell. But worse than that is my little Heinz 57 ddoggie who insists on sleeping in my bedroom. She may be little but she makes man sized farts! I'd say it is second only to skunks. I put a drop of eucalyptus oil on a small piece of absorbent cotton and put it behind my apap. works well!

And while we're OT, let me tell you all that I finally found out where I know AbbyNormal from. Shes a member of another forum I go to. I can't remember what I had for breakfast this morning, I have a bad case of CBM and CRS (Chronic Brain Mush and Can't REmember Shit) but the very moment I saw her name I kNEW I know her.

For the smoke, maybe the humidifier acts as a hookah . As to the skunk and doggie flatuence, mine seems to be a concentrator too.
