FINALLY AN AHI "0" NIGHT

Post by rottyjohn » Wed Sep 19, 2012 6:08 am

Hello to all,

Well after 15 months I finally had a AHI 0 night. I really felt it wasnt possible for me. The Holy Grail for those of us with sleep apnea. After many masks nasal and full face not to mention two CPAP machines and a lot of help from you good people on this forum. It finally happened. Not exactly sure how or why? I have had a couple of nights recently under 1. I felt really extra good this morning when I awoke. Over the last 2 weeks numbers had been dipping down averaging around 3. My AHI numbers are typically right around 5 but I really try hard not to focus on it too much. It tends to drive my wife nuts . My nature is to be way too analytical.

The only thing different is I was put on Naproxen(Naprosyneq) 500MG for shoulder pain recently by my ortho Dr. I am recovering from a level 3 shoulder seperation. The shoulder injury occurred 10 weeks ago. I didnt have the surgery to correct joint. This caused me to have switch from sleeping on my left side vs right side. But to be honest i have been on a couple of different pain killers since the injury. Heavy duty Vicodin the first week, then Advil now this. Based on reading the medical info if anything side effect are the opposite possibly causing insomina, headache, stomach ache etc? Not really sleep friendly? I wonder if any of this is connected?

I posted my screen shots from sleepy head if anyone is interested?

The naproxen is a wonderful drug. I've been on lortab, percocet, and a couple of other narcotics in the past for arthritis in my knees. Didn't like the "drugged" affect. Of course they helped the immediate pain but just didn't like the residual feeling. I've been on 500mg Naproxen for about 3 months now and it's amazing.
Congrats on your 0.0 AHI. Hopefully it's something you can continue.

Thanks Pam,

Yes it does a good job minimizing my shoulder pain through the night. It is going to be a short term thing 2 months is when I go back to Dr. Have not had any side effects so far either.

John

No side effects here either. Hope your shoulder heals well. My husband suffered a level 3 separation, also, about 18 mths ago. He eventually (4 mths later) had the surgery and he's doing well. It still bothers him some but nothing like before the surgery. It's no picnic, I know. Lots and lots of physical therapy became a love/hate thing with him.
Take care and I wish you a speedy recovery.
Pam

OK, I'm jealous of your 0.0 night. The only way I can get a low AI number is to knock off the mask part way through the night, skipping the hours after about 2am. And my HI is always around 10, no matter what. Hope it keeps gett`n better.
