S9 Detailed data only if card is in the machine?

Post by Xney » Mon Sep 17, 2012 11:25 am

I forgot to put the SD card in the machine last night before sleep - it seems to only have recorded summary data for the night.

Is that how it works?

Yep, that's how it works. Some data is stored on the machine and will be put on the SD card but some data goes directly to the SD card and is not stored on the machine.
I suspect that is by design...detailed data takes up more storage space so the machine just doesn't store it.
Summary data doesn't take up much room so it gets to stay on the machine.

Don't feel bad. I imagine all of us has done the same thing at one time or another. I know that I have.
Of course it is Murphy's Law that it happened on a night that I wanted to see the data for sure. Like when I woke up with mouth open and wanted to see how long or how bad my mouth breathing was.

Now the PR S1 machines are more forgiving because everything but the wave form flow data is stored on the machine so not nearly as much is lost. They also store the detailed data much longer before it starts to be overwritten on the machine.

It's annoying since my leak #s were very low and I wanted to see what the waveforms looked like. *cry*

I know, I know....it just always seems to work out that way. The "one" night I would particularly want to see the detailed stuff.

If you find yourself doing it often you might want to invest in an extra SD card and pop it in the machine when you remove the one left in the machine over night....just in case you forget again.

Usually once we do it once though...it takes a while before we forget it again.
I try to make a habit of once the data is downloaded I remove the SD card and place it over the on/off button area on my laptop. That way I see it or have to touch it when I shut down the computer each night.
I also place the little plastic blank thing that goes in the SD slot in the same area. That way if I have forgotten to remove the SD card totally...I see the blank thing and it jogs my memory to remove the SD card and go stick it in the computer.
Couple of times I have detoured to the bathroom and found the SD card laying on the sink. so best to not make any detours.

I wish these machines had an option of "do not operate without the SD card" rather than "warn" or "ignore".

My 560 is happy to run with the write protect turned on.

It's the same with the PR60 Auto (560) -- the card must be inserted before running the blower or the waveform data is not recorded. The other data is recorded in the machine's memory, but not the waveform data.

I found this out because for the first three days of use I left the card out of the machine..... then once in, voila, it started recording waveform info. What a dummy.,,,

This strikes me funny! As many of you know, I take care of my husband's bedtime routine with very little input from him but the one thing he's learned to ask me is "do you have the card in"?? Oh, and "is there enough water in the tank?" I've forgotten both at times and he remembers my "reaction"!!

I wish I could configure it to beep at me or not run if the card's not in.

It can't lose the bad night's data, oh noooooo Has to be the good one!

One problem I had with my S9 is that the SD card did not record one night. The SD card was seated properly, but the data simply was not recorded. Go figure.

Just pretend it's been a couple of years since you started on the machine. By that time you, like me and others, will have quit obsessing about the nightly data and not worry about it. In fact, I haven't downloaded data for maybe 3 or 4 months now. The morning numbers on the screen stay in about the same range all the time!
