Well, I learned a lesson...

Post by MissAmethyst2U » Thu Mar 30, 2006 6:38 pm

NEVER NEVER forget to turn off your heated humidifier So like Tues night I filled up my clean humidifier and all slept great. Wed afternoon decided I was gonna take a nap cause I knew I was going out Wed night.

Well apparentely I had left my humidifier on all day from the night before. Well, I just layed down and was like well the water is already warm I will just use that (I have used the water in there twice before (Like from sleeping at night and then for a nap during the day) but never with leaving the HH on all day) so I wake up from my nap and dump the water and wash it out and all go out Wed night.

I come home this morning put water in my humidifier and turn it on and did a few things on the computer and went to go to sleep (Yeah, I was out all night Wed night so I was just going to bed) I put on my NAII and turned on the machine and OMG the NASTIEST SMELL EVER! EWWWWWW!!!

Apparentely from leaving the HH on it got a really gross moldy mildewy smell in the HH and the hose....

I soaked both and the mask in some vinegar and water and then washed them both good and prob solved but ewww I will never forget that smell!!! Eww!

MissAmethyst2U,
Just curious, do you use distilled water or tap water?

Yuck! Sure makes me glad that my humidifier automatically turns off when my CPAP does.

Goofproof and Gidgie are spoiled....aren't we? Actually I was thinking about summer heat waves keeping any water left in the humidifier warm enough for icky stuff to start growing in.
