Hi there Dragon672!
Could you use a buddy? It helps to have support while you are trying to lose weight! Especially that amount of weight.
I really want to go off CPAP....
Sincerely
Jennifer

I've lost 100lbs and I'm still on the hose. Most people still need it so if you are hoping to get off the hose I suggest you change your goal to simple weight loss.
In my case I went from straighting cpap to an ASV machine AFTER losing weight. Either way, good luck.

Re: OT:Losing weight- looking for weight loss buddies!
Hi Jennifer - I'm sending you an email now.
My sleep dr told me that 2/3 of the patients he sees that have a dramatic weight loss no longer use the machine. Jeff--- I hope I'm one of them. You're right my goal shouldnt be to get off the machine -- that what seems to keep me going now. Been on machine for 1 month. I've never heard a dr say "dont lose weight - it's bad for you." I told my regular doctor that she should have threatened me with this cpap machine a long time ago --- the wieght would have come off!

And if I were off the hose then I would never have seen DreamStalkers post about that book and Mark Sissions book. Both of them changed my life. Glad I could pass on what was passed on to me.Lizistired wrote:Hey Jeff, if you were off the hose I never would have seen your post about Bernstein's book! That post changed my life! Re: OT:Losing weight- looking for weight loss buddies!
The only time they are going to say this is if you are already under weight - a BMI of less than 18 might do it. The big question is whether losing weight generally will help reduce the fat in the throat area. Probably not, or at least not immediately. However, if you can keep the weight off long-term, it might be a different question? So, don't give up on the hope that you will be able to stop using the machine. For exercise (as important, if not more so, than the diet part), try a high-intensity interval program. I use (and need to start again!) Dr. Al Sears PACE program. Works well when I stop finding excuses to not do it! I only need to lose about 15lb and I will be well into the "normal" BMI range - then it becomes a question of maintaining rather than losing.Roch369 wrote:I've never heard a dr say "dont lose weight - it's bad for you."
