One night down
One night down
It has been a month since I started the process to address my sleep apnea. I got my equipment yesterday. I didn't sleep well last night at all but I expected that. My AHI was 12. My DME was great. All they deal in is ResMed Autoset 9 and climate line tubing. The tech was surprised I knew exactly what I wanted. I said I have done a lot of reading and talking. I do not know how my dr is going to feel about me having a resmed machine vs a respironics. And an added bonus is the DME does the CPAP compliance clinic. It is 45 min from home, but I can sneak in a lunch with my husband a few times a year, as opposed to going 30 min to the clinic associated with my dr for her clinic. He will send her a report and hopefully give her the info she needs. And yes I know I need to do a signature and will do that soon.

Re: One night down
do you have software to look at your data yet?
I wish you luck. You need to be able ot look at your data and see how things are going. sometimes the body takes a while to adapt. But it could also be that your pressure settings need to be tweaked, so the machine is closer to what you need and can respond, or you have leaks that is impacting how thigs are working.
If you get the software and down load your machine, the group will be better able to help you get settled in quickly.
good luck

I do have sleepyhead downloaded. I will look and share more detailed data when I have time. (its the last days of summer vacation and 4 kids are keeping me running)

It is great that you made it through the night. I was too chicken to use the machine the first night, and it was a week before I was up to 6 hours per night. You are doing way better than I did at first.
It is good that you read the AHI, but this probably isn't the primary goal right now. I would suggest simply focusing on getting some time on the hose. Sleep as much as you can, anytime you can. Get used to the machine and get some time behind you. Get your bedroom and sleep environment optimized as much as you can. After a week or 10 days, then start looking more closely at the data. The leak numbers are the highest priority since all other numbers are suspect when you have high leaks. Next is the AHI, and the break down of what kind of events you are having. Finally, you will want to look at the 90% pressure number (or 95% if that is what your machine gives) and ask for advice on whether or not your pressure range is optimal.
Congrats on a great start!
