looking for help submitting TRICARE prime claim

Post by rottyjohn » Thu Aug 09, 2012 9:22 am

Hello All,

I was looking through alot of posts from as far as 6 years ago on submitting claims to tricare. I actually bought a APAP out of pocket a year ago I just got tired of tussling with DME over it. And just recenly a total face mask( cpap.com).I am going to try and get reimbursed from tricareg for the mask using the form provided by CPAP.com. Curious if any other military folks out there have done this successfully? I am a former USAF 20 yr type I retired in 2000.

Thanks,
John

i've been in tricare prime a long time. i do not think they will deal with on-line companies. i don't believe that they will reimburse you. you need to find and go to your regional tri-care office for best results with the question or call the tri-care number. tri-care is the easiest insurance to work with when you learn to use it. if you have a problem with a dme you need to report them to tri-care and find a new dme. unless you can't wait the required time for a new mask or machine, there is no reason to pay for it out of pocket. what is your city and state? maybe somebody can tell you about a good dme.

when you have a problem with the kind of machine or mask the dme wants to give you, have the doctor submit it to tricare as a pre-authorization request just like they would with a referral to a specialist and get it approved that way rather than writing a prescription, sending it to the dme, and having the dme interpret it and send a request to tri-care. my tri-care regional office to me their biggest headaches are with prescription requests.

Imagine how much better the service would be locally if on-line vendors (especially our fave) were in THAT network!
Imagine how much lower the costs could be, too.

I've used Tricare for med's, download the form off of there web site and submit it, they'll either pay it or they won't pay it. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

Generally speaking Tricare will not reimburse you for out-of-pocket expenses if the services/items are available locally. That's not to say you can't submit for reimbursement, as our resident Cephalopod already stated, nothing ventured nothing gained.

Do you have any servic connected disability and able to use a VA facility?
