I can only suggest you hold off a few months on selling the machine. Let him get his dental device and use it for a while then test using the autopap with the dental device in the currently set wide open pressure range and see if he still registers apnea events. Better to be very sure than have to start the process over. It's hard to predict the degree of success of an individual with dental devices since they don't come with data to confirm effectiveness like his machine does. Without a machine to at least give you an idea if sleep apnea appears resolved, another sleep study is the only way to be sure.

Maybe you could utilize this site to see if his difficulties with this treatment might be solvable problems. Many give up when they just didn't have good guidance to help them work through the problems. Best wishes however you decide to handle it.

I hear you guys. I am actually on CPAP myself and can't imagine not using it. I upgraded to the S9 last fall or I would keep it for myself. It took me years to convince him to test and I am confident he will not give in on using the CPAP. So I am right there with you, but would rather do something useful with the machine while it's still relevant. At his rate we'll have hoseless CPAPs before he will be compliant!

If you don't have a backup machine I'd use this one for a backup. Haste makes waste, slow down and wait and see what happens with him.

My boyfriend and I both snore and have apnea. We used two different dental devices and neither worked for us. In fact, the ZQuiet dental devices gave us both blisters in our mouth and made our teeth ache even weeks after we gave up trying to use them. CPAP is indeed the way to go. I'm a new user and have a love/hate relationship with mine. There are a lot of answers on this board and a lot of patient and caring people here. The fact that that they are trying to talk you out of selling the machine should be noted, because from what I can tell that's a great price for it. Good luck!!
