Test Results are in: What questions should I ask my Dr.?

Post by crankybear » Sun Aug 05, 2012 10:13 am

I have taken my initial sleep study and have been diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. I went back for my second sleep study using a cpap machine. Now those results are in and I have an appointment this week with my family Dr. to review all of the information from both studies and I assume to set me up with a Cpap Machine. What important questions should I be asking and what information should I be getting from the visit? What is the best equipment you can recommend?

I am tired during the day and do snore heavily.

If you haven't already, contact the lab and get copies of complete reports and condensed graphs for both studies. These will tell you most of the questions you want to ask.

Contact your insurance to find out which DME's(durable medical equipment) companies are in your network and EXACTLY what they cover.

Read :
What you need to know before you meet your DME http://tinyurl.com/2arffqx

Don't Pay that Upcharge! http://tinyurl.com/2ck48rm

When at your doctors get a copy of the prescription in your tired little hands, don't leave without it and don't let them control who provides the equipment. What you really really want it to say is "Mask of patients choice" and "with efficacy data available providing patient with leak data and AHI "

Buying a used car is a pleasant experience, dealing with honourable people compared to dealing with most DME's. They are in it for the profit, not to help you with your health. Most can't be trusted to put a bandaid on a scraped knee right.
