Climateline hose lasted 1 year 8 months!
Climateline hose lasted 1 year 8 months!
I discovered last night when doing my cleaning routine that my climate line hose had a small pin hole near the connector closest to my mask. Not bad considering this is the original hose that came with my S9 autoset and its 1 year and 8 months old. I switched to my back up hose and ordered some silicone tape to reinforce the connector end closest to the mask.
I have to say I got my money's worth though. My system has been traveled with and move around a lot. I do keep the hose covered with hose cover. I hate the feel or sound of the plastic rubbing.
I also got lazy last night and tried to sleep without my barrel cover in my Swift FX...bad idea...I already have the cover back on so I am prepared for sleep tonight. Karen, thank you again for your wonderful products.

How did you ascertain that you had a leak, or more precisely how did you check for leaks?
Thanks summer

I saw what I thought was a small hole near the cuff at the mask end. I took the mask off covered the mask end with my hand. Turned the the machine and verified there was air leaking from a small hole.

My concern is how do you keep your ferrets away from the hose... one of mine ferrets literally attacked it like it was a snake or something leaving bunch of holes... just got a replacement about 3 weeks ago and I just saw a small hole on the hose and thought it was from my ferret... thinking it was a hole I ran a leak test (the same way you did by turning on the machine) but no air was coming out of it (that has nothing to do with what I was asking lol). but ya my question is how do you prevent animals from ruining a hose?

Its normally covered and they don't bother it unless they want me when I am in bed. My fathers dog tugs on the cover. The ferrets do the same thing. Other than that they ignore it.
I will tell you the first time they saw it on my face they were VERY surprised. After a short while they got use to it.
Keep in mind my ferrets are caged during bedtime for there on safety and my sanity! lol They are free roam during the day though.

Many of these hoses have been recalled. Take it back to your DME and maybe you'll get a free hose or maybe not.

Another option is to spray the hose with Bitter Apple. My ferrets used to hate the stuff, and it was the only way to keep some things safe. They can be trained to avoid things by giving them access right after you have sprayed the object, and then repeating the spray-access process twice a day for about a week. It normally only takes them a couple of days to decide that the object is not worth playing with.
Bitter Apple does wear off pretty quickly, so always apply it just before giving them access.

Re: Climateline hose lasted 1 year 8 months!
It's funny that recently I have been hearing loud hissing sounds that I thought was from leakage from a new mask. It turns out it was from a rather blatant hole in my climateline hose. Given that I see here some have been recalled, does this mean if I buy another it is likely to be an updated version that will last longer?
To be fair though, the one I have has lasted something like a year, so I suppose I shouldn't complain.
