Can a cpap smart card be read with the smart card reader that is installed on many desktop computers from the manufacturer?

No, DT3500 only, unless you can write your own software, and design the reader too. Its a awful lot of trouble to save $30.80.

Google for 2Factors, you want the DT3500, Postal and sliding reader. $30.80 shipping included. Use IE Explorer, You must sign up like a forum.

You also need to downliad the installer for Encore Pro from the site. (6 Meg)
Run the installer with the reader disconnected.
